Emirates FC (with points) itinerary confirmed and ticketed with backtrack routing. New problem!

Emirates FC (with points) itinerary confirmed and ticketed with backtrack routing. New problem!

Last week I booked a First class award ticket online with the following routing (which was confirmed and ticketed): EWR MXP ON 777-300 with a much anticipated 8 hour layover in DXB to experience all the FC lounge perks. Then returning MXP-EWR A380 with 4 hour in DXB, again for the experience. I transferred over Chase miles (they are instant) to Skywards points. The taxes and fuel charges are huge at $1146 but mileage for FC was 135K so I decided to go for it.

Then a few days later I wanted to possibly change the dates and called Emirates reservation center to make sure I was doing it correctly online but when they pulled up my res I was told that the routing I was given is not possible and that the only way to get to MXP was though JFK, nonstop to MXP, a mere 6+ hour flight. I explained that the reason for my travel was to experience the renown FC experience on the 777 and A380 as well as Dubai lounge and I did not want to fly NS for $1146 and 135K miles.

She said she would email the online booking department and get back to me that day, or possibly the next. It is now 5 days later, my reference booking still shows the confirmed and ticketed “backtracking” routing and I am yet to hear from them. In addition, when I look online again just fooling around, I find the same routing still available.

I forgot to mention that I live in California and was going to have to fly to New York (economy – ugh) and stay overnight before my first leg on Emirates from EWR the next day. If they don’t honor the routing and I cancel I will have 135K points sitting in a Skywards account with no where to go. The huge fee to fly Emirates and trekking across the country to just take these flights could only be justified by the the many hours of FC service in the sky and lounge…not for a short NS flight JFK-MXP.

My question is…do you think Emirates will honor the routing as it stands? If not, will they transfer back the 135K points to my Chase account. (I think I know the answer to that one).Do I have an recourse? Should I wait for them to call back? Call them? I am not a business flyer, I am a senior lady who has enjoyed a lifetime of traveling and accumulating miles and this Emirates experience was to probably be my last big fling before I realize this part of my life is coming to a close.

    Thanks for any advice.

Do you have a confirmed ticket number?

I don’t know why you couldn’t take that routing… Ben has literally done the same thing (US to Dubai to Milan)
