Emirates Awards?

Emirates Awards?

What is the best way to earn Emirates rewards? Is AMEX the only card that transfers to Emirates? Im based in Chicago right now and none of their tranfer airline partners really have a presence here.

Hi @Cole — you probably don’t want to earn Emirates rewards, as their program sorta sucks.

You’re better off earning Alaska miles for Emirates flights, which are best earned through their co-brand card, or the SPG Amex cards.

Yeah i dont necessarily want to earn their rewards, would just like to try their first class product once in my life. I use the chase sapphire and hyatt cards now, but have been looking at getting an AMEX as well.

Like Tiffany said, their Bank of America card is great for the bonus, both personal and business cards. You could also look into buying Alaska miles when there’s a promotion going on, which is what I did. For about $2k including taxes, I flew EK First from London Gatwick to New York via Dubai!

I just completed the Alaska initial bonus sign on precisely targeting Emirates redemption. Although on the back of my mind, CX F is not a bad alternative depending on destination. Can anyone confirm that QF award space cant been redeemed through American miles even though its One World?

QF awards are bookable using AA miles. The trouble is finding premium cabin awards, especially between North America and Australia.

So I could ask American for QF inventory I am seeing through Award Nexus on Emirates? I thought Emirates couldnt be booked through AA for some reason.
Looking at EK to DXB as an example

Are you trying to book award travel on Emirates or on Qantas? AA will be able to book QF awards that is on QF metal. It cannot book QF awards thats on EK metal.

EK metal. I am burning through AA miles while shifting to Alaska 🙂

In that case, it wont work. AA cant book EK awards. Cant hurt to save some AA miles. the devaluation isnt all bad.

Hi David, how exactly did you do this? id love to book an EK first from the UK going to newyork via Dubai ( possibly with a stop over in dubai?). Which card did you get for you to use in the UK? Thanks Simon

I purchased Alaska Airlines miles when they had a 50% bonus promotion. I think the current promo is a 40% bonus but is expiring soon. Once you have 100k miles, book a ticket using their multi city tool, selecting the date for your London to Dubai leg, and then a different date for your dubai to new York leg. If you’re in the UK, use a card that doesn’t carry a forex fee

QF almost never releases F space correct between North America and Australia
