Dumb question about AAdvantage redemption

Dumb question about AAdvantage redemption

I feel like an utter newbie asking this, but: when redeeming AAdvantage on oneworld partners, do intra-zone shorthaul flights add their own mileage cost, or are included?

Here’s my example? I’m in MNL, and want to go to LAX in First. Is it only 67,500 (Asia Zone 2 to US), or is it 100,000 (Asia Zone 2 to US, and Asia Zone 2 to Asia Zone 2). I wouldn’t be doing a stopover – just a standard connection.

I THINK, based on what Tiffany wrote here that it’s the former, specifically the part where she says:
We get a surprising number of questions about this, but your domestic and short-haul flights are including in the mileage cost of a zone-based award (pending availability, of course).
But I know nothing about redemption, so I’m not sure.
