Dual Mileage Account Accrual on Interline Tickets
Hello,
I’m a DL Platinum medallion and I’m looking at booking an open jaw ticket on KLM. The last leg of the ticket goes from SYD-KUL-AMS-YVR, with the SYD-KUL leg on Malaysian Airlines.
I know that Delta is vigilant in not awarding any MQMs or SMs on Skyteam codeshares operated by third-party airlines (fair enough?) so I shouldn’t expect that the SYD-KUL leg would qualify for medallion status, et. all.
That said, I also am a BA EC bronze, and was curious if there was someway of proactively/retroactively having the mileage from the SYD-KUL leg accrue to my EC account, since Malaysian is a oneworld carrier. My thought was upon checkin, obtain a hard copy boarding pass from the Malysian counter and send to BA upon return and seek credit.
Does anyone else have experience accruing mileage on codeshare/interline tickets between two or more accounts?
I’ve never tried to do a split credit before but might be worth a shot. I’d think that you’d want to keep your FF numbers off the itinerary so that the miles don’t get auto credited elsewhere and then send the boarding passes for each leg to the appropriate airline for credit. I’d also get hard copies from KLM for their legs. Curious if someone else has tried something like this.

I had a similar situation though a little less complicated. I booked a domestic ticket MEM-LAX-SBA//SBA-SLC-MEM via Delta and put in my SkyMiles number. DL does not fly LAX-SBA so they sold me that leg on AA. I accumulated miles on DL for 3 legs and I later called AA and they gave me the miles for that flight so I ended up with some kind of credit for all 4 legs. So it’s certainly worth a shot.
