Crazy AF/DL and Expert Flyer award availability discrepancy — please help!

Crazy AF/DL and Expert Flyer award availability discrepancy — please help!

I’m trying to redeem miles (either SkyMiles or FlyingBlue) for 2 business class award tickets from FLR-CDG-LAX-LAS on May 18, 2020, and nothing is working.

ExpertFlyer shows O inventory available on AF FLR-CDG and then DL CDG-LAX-LAS.

Delta’s website show’s O inventory individually for FLR-CDG, CDG-LAX, and LAX-LAS, but it won’t let me combine anything more than CDG-LAX-LAS. Delta’s agents say the problem is with the AF FLR-CDG flight. Yet I can book FLR-CDG for 25K SkyMiles in O, and CDG-LAX-LAS for 80K SkyMiles in O. Why won’t they combine into an available award route?

FlyingBlue (through Air France) shows CDG-LAX-LAS in O for 72K Flying Blue miles. But the miles required for FLR-CDG keeps flip-flopping from 25K to 41.2K on repeated searches. What is going on?

Shouldn’t ExpertFlyer’s info show “the truth”? Does anyone have any advice for how I can get this booked with Delta or (preferably) Air France? Or am I missing something?

This is for the return portion of a trip I’m taking my mom on to celebrate her 50th birthday so I’d really like to get it to work, especially since the CDG-LAX flight has Delta One Suites! 🙂

Thanks so much for your help!

    Todd

You can try calling (France, not the North America call center), but both Delta and FlyingBlue have married segment and origin/destination pricing rules now, which makes manually combining itineraries more complicated.

I’d consider just booking CDG-LAX-LAS because that’d be the more important segments of your itinerary. If you book with Delta, and they cant add FLR-CDG immediately after, i’d probably just book a separate award or paid ticket for that segment. Or, if you have the time, a train via Turin/Milan
