Connect friend’s ticket to our itinerary so cancel fee would only be $25 for him and not $150?

Connect friend’s ticket to our itinerary so cancel fee would only be $25 for him and not $150?

If we book 3 tickets using AA miles from EWR-LIH round trip, and it’s currently on hold, can an AA agent add a one way flight from a friend’s AA account and connect it to our itinerary so that if we had to cancel, it would only cost $25 for my friend’s ticket and not $150? Same question, but what if we ticketed now, and then my friend booked a flight a month later with his account, can it be added to our itinerary so that it would only cost $25 to cancel if we canceled everything?

@ Joe S — You can’t ticket a reservation out of multiple accounts, so that would only work if you have enough miles in a single account for everyone. Linking the tickets later won’t reduce the change fees, unfortunately.
