Confused: Qatar booking class using AA miles DOH-DXB

Confused: Qatar booking class using AA miles DOH-DXB

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hi,

I just booked a EDI-DOH-DXB award ticket using AA miles on Qatar. The Qatar confirmation shows “Business (U)” for the EDI-DOH segment, but ”Business (Z)” for the DOH-DXB leg. However, the AA confirmation email shows this leg as First. Aren’t all QR DOH-DXB flights marketed as either Economy or First?

Will having “Business (Z)” on my ticket for the DOH-DXB leg prevent me from accessing the Al Safwa First Lounge?

    Thanks!

Exactly, QR does not like AA award tickets. More and more restrictions put in place now. Hopefully your layover will not be long as even if you do manage to get into First Class lounge you will be refused a sleeping room for DXB flights anyway. But likely will have to settle with Business Class lounge – no fine champagne anymore, no menus to choose from, etc. Some people have also been refused entry to Business lounge on grounds lounge too busy and partner award ticket only (likely a problem around midnight).

The class for the flight would be standard no matter who issued the tickets. I’m pretty sure QR does not maintain separate booking classes for AA tickets. Not sure what the answer is on this though. QR may be playing around with their booking codes. @Lucky? @Tiffany?

“Z” is “First” for all oneworld carriers, so I don’t think you’ll have any issues.
