Changes to award itinerary post-AA/USDM merger
Hi Ben,
I have an award ticket that I booked a while back using USDM. I would like to make changes to this award. My questions are:
1. Do I call the EXP number to make the change or do I call USAirways?
2. The first part of my itinerary is EWR-ORD-HKG. The change I want to make is JFK-HKG. Will they let me do this without any issues?
3. Will I need to pay the $150 change fee since my origin is changing from EWR to JFK even though EWR, LGA and JFK count as NYC?
Thanks.
I recently changed a DM ticket with no fee. I asked the agent first to ensure that before making any change to ensure my routing won’t be affected – especially the case when you’ve got e.g. JAL included. The agent did put me on hold and said she’d have to get the rate desk to ok the change – that for just a date/time change, airport and airline were the same. Aadvantage desk will forward you to a still-existing DM office that handles DM awards. Technically your origin should still be NYC, unless they get real picky, confused. Just hang up and call again.
