Cathay Pacific & Singapore Award Pricing
Hello Lucky,
I am looking to fly from DPS to BOS on Cathay Pacific. Is it possible to fly DPS-HKG (spend 2 days in Hong Kong) and then fly HKG – BOS on the same 67,500 award ticket?
Same goes for Singapore Air. Could I fly JFK-SIN (stop in SIN for 2 days) and then fly SIN-DPS on the same award?
Thank you,
H

From the amount of miles I assume you are using AA miles to redeem for this award?
Sadly AA does not allow stopovers like that, you can however do a stopover like this on CX award booked on Alaska miles.

Depends, what kind of miles are you trying to use and what booking class are you looking for?
For SQ, you have to call them to book an award with a stopover and it’s an additional $100 on top of taxes and fees. Remind the phone agent to honor the 15% off miles online booking discount since you cant book stopovers online
What do you do if the Singapore flight is wait listed? Book JFK – DPS and if it clears tell them you want to add a stopover in SIN?
question about the answer for the AA miles.
If the flight from DPS – HKG is at night, is it still the same itinerary if the flight from HKG to BOS is the next morning or day. Is there a time limit?
Thanks!
Not exactly sure how SQ would work in a stopover for waitlisted flights, maybe someone else can answer?
For the CX connection in HK to Boston, as long as your scheduled arrival into HK and scheduled departure from HK are within 24 hours, its valid.
Thanks David!
Hopefully someone may have the answer for Singapore air.
@Patrickj — Would you have anything ticketed prior to waitlisting? If yes, I think you’d need to pay a change fee to keep your SIN-DPS segment and add in the other waitlisted segment. If no, then I think you’d just call to issue the award and add the stopover at that point.
I haven’t done this before though, so am not 100% certain.
Thank you Tiffany!
I have nothing ticketed yet, haven’t even waitlisted as not sure which to do. So would you recommend waitlisting JFK-DPS or JFK-SIN? Also, I wanted to waitlist First Class but there is only business on the SIN-DPS part, any way around that?
Thank you
I would waitlist the long segment of JFK-SIN (using Ben’s tips here: http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2015/03/16/basics-of-waitlisting-singapore-airlines-krisflyer-award-tickets/).
