Cathay Pacific First Class
Over the past 6-7 years, I’ve traveled between NYC and Asia on Cathay Pacific. Usually, I was able to nab a first class seat provided I was flexible with my schedule and I often waited for the last-minute first class seats to be released by the airlines for award redemption. (I sometimes use expertflyer.com just to see how sold the flight is.) In the past, I used the BA website to conduct these transactions. The last-minute first class seat release by the Cathay has appeared to have dried up. The BA site shows nothing available last minute, however, looking in advance (a week out) you can see award seats but no First Class. Any insight on this??? Gregory
Given the Vietnam mistake fare back in Dec 2018, I’m not surprised https://onemileatatime.com/omg-1000-cathay-pacific-transpacific-first-class-tickets/
Many people booked tickets and Cathay honored all the ones that were paid and ticketed. Many reported that F was full on tons of flights, which isnt usually the case.
Cathay only has First on 77Ws and only 6 seats on each flight, so space is fairly limited. I doubt there’d be much CX F space until late 2019/early 2020.
