Canceling Aeroplan Award

Canceling Aeroplan Award

It’s looking like I am going to need to cancel a Business class Aeroplan award to Europe that is less than 21 days from departure. I understand that I can cancel it now and then apply the value of the ticket to a future redemption within 1 year. I am wondering if it is required for it to be the same award type or if it can be a different award type. For example, can I apply the value of the ticket towards a Business or First award to Asia and pay the difference in points?

It has to be the same award type, I believe.

Better option: move the dates to more than 21 days from departure, and then make a second call to cancel and redeposit so you don’t have to worry about it 🙂
