Can I use UR points to transfer to Virgin Atlantic, to then transfer to ANA?

I want to fly Business or First Class from Washington DC to Japan. Or can anyone think of a better airlines to fly to Japan? At the present time I only have UR points………Thanks!

ANA is in Star Alliance so you can transfer to either United or Singapore Airlines to book a flight or, as you note, Virgin Atlantic is also an ANA partner. Check to see which airline charges the least number of miles AND be sure their website shows partner award space on ANA before making the transfer.

Transfers to UA and Virgin are pretty much instant. Transfers to Singapore may take a little longer. The last one I did took 2-3 hours but it could be longer.

And here’s a great resource when you have questions about transferring miles: Frequent Miler’s Transfer Partner Master List. He keeps it updated and there’s a link to a Google Docs spreadsheet where you can do things like filter on which airlines UR points can be transferred to so you can easily see where your points are useful.
