Booking Cathay with Alaska/SPG for someone else
I’ve never booked an award ticket for someone else so I’m wondering if anyone can help/correct me before I start transfering points around.
Need to book a Cathay award ticket for my mom via Alaska. I have some Alaska points in my account but will need to transfer the rest from my SPG account. My mom doesn’t have Alaska or SPG accounts right now.
Is the easiest way to transfer everything to my own Alaska account & then call them to book a ticket in my mom’s name? Is that allowed or would it need to come from her own frequent flier account? Thx!

With Alaska this should work just fine in most cases as long as your account is not brand new and have never been used for booking awards before.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry, I’m inexperienced with booking award tickets so if you can please clarify ?
I have used my Alaska account to book award tickets for myself before. I have had the Alaska account for a few years & fly their metal couple times a year.
Can I still go ahead and book for my mom? Thx!
Shouldn’t be a problem. When you call to book just tell them you’re using your miles for your mom.
