Hi Lucky,
I’m hoping to go first class on Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong. I have an award business class ticket for myself and spouse. There is a first class available, but a different time. Am I allowed to book two flights for the same day, different times?

If you have the miles that should work yes, depending on what award program you use for booking and what status you have with the airline there might be cancellations fees for the tickets you don’t use.

The miles you’re using can also make a difference. AAdvantage will cancel duplicate reservations from time to time, so that’s a consideration as well.

Holy moly!
Thanks for each of your replies. Tiffany, I booked the 2nd seat yesterday, which is in first class. They didn’t mention my business class seat at the time. Could they cancel one or the other at any time? My hope is to snag a 2nd first class at least one day prior to my trip and cx the other two business class tickets.
