Best Strategy for OW HKG to SFO in J

Hi, long time reader of OMAAT but first time poster here! I’m going to HKG for New Years and am struggling to find a good way home to SFO on January 5th in business class.

I’m EXP on American and have enough miles for the low tier business or first tickets, but availability is virtually nonexistent this late in the game.

Specifically wondering for thoughts on which of these options y’all would recommend:

A/ wait things out and try to get a last minute award ticket to return in Cathay, JAL, or AA.

B/ book on American flights and hope my SWU clears (slim chances it will on HKG to DFW that day, so I’d have to route through Shanghai and LAX to get to SFO which sucks but it would maximize my chances of getting the upgrade to clear)

C/ stop acting like a prince and just book a nonstop coach ticket from HKG to SFO

Any thoughts or tips? Thanks in advance!

[USER=1097]@John Allen Thomas[/USER] How about D, book any economy routing you can find to get home with points which I think you can redposit for free as an EXP and keep an eye on premium space closer to departure?
