Award Travel – American and United

Award Travel – American and United

  1. Richard New Member

I’m wondering whether I’m missing something. I have several hundred thousand miles on both American and United which. I have been looking to book award travel in business or first, but only with a saver reward. I periodically look for trips to various cities in Europe, especially now to Paris and the award availability is sporadic and difficult to book round trip even using one airline for the outbound and the other for a return. United shows almost nothing. You always seem to find availability and I’m wondering if it’s because of status or because you’re lucky. Thanks.

@ Richard — Hmmm, where are you originating, what time of year are you looking to travel, and how far in advance are you typically trying to book? This could all factor into the availability issues you’re having.

I was looking almost daily all through February to fly from Chicago to Venice, being willing to go to any European non-stop and I would pay to fly to Venice. Also at that time and now for any flights to Paris in June or July.

Hmmm, Richard, just to give an example, I had a look at space from Chicago to Europe for July, and I see seven dates with nonstop business class award space from Chicago to Frankfurt. Also, LOT business class space is wide open, though won’t show up on United’s website. Those are two great options.
