AS award travel on AA – is it possible to select Main Cabin Extra or Premium Econ?
Hi,
I am think about using AS miles to purchase AA flight (Main Cabin) from LAX to CDG with a stop at DFW.
Does anyone know, after purchasing AA flight using AS miles, if I will I be able to go to AA’s web site and be able to select a seat? If I will be able to, will I be able to select Main Cabin Extra or Premium Economy seat (with additional pay to AA)?
Thank you.
I know you can definitely book MCE and 99% sure you can also do Y+. You can always make the booking and then check to see. If it doesn’t work for some reason just cancel within the first 24 hours for a full refund (less the small non-refundable charge AS uses for partner bookings).
I am also pretty sure you can pay for MCE seats on an award. Premium Economy is iffy since AA is considering that a separate fare class beginning in April. If you’re traveling before April I think you’ll be able to pay for a Y+ seat. After April, I dont think that would be an option.
Since you’d have to pay for the seat selection on each separate flight, I wouldnt pay for the seats on the short LAX-DFW leg at all.
