American Main Cabin Extra

American Main Cabin Extra

  1. Anonymous Guest

I was booking a one way award ticket for my brother in law on American and the only tickets available are economy anytime so I booked it. It is LAS to DAY with a price tag over $400. Anyways when I go to pick his seat they are all showing $0 cost…main cabin extra etc. Is this the norm when booking economy anytime prices or a glitch. I don’t want to pick one and then have him be billed later for it etc.

    Any insight would help.

    Hello Macosty

    From AA MCE website
    https://www.aa.com/i18n/urls/mainCabinExtra.jsp?anchorLocation=DirectURL&title=maincabinextra

Main Cabin Extra seats are complimentary* for:

AAdvantage® Executive Platinum and AAdvantage Platinum members

oneworld® Sapphire and oneworld Emerald members

Customers who purchase a full-fare Main Cabin ticket
So if your booking class is Y or B as said in this AA webpage your are good to go.

I think this is normal, though doubt you’d be billed for it later regardless. AAnytime awards have access to the Y fare bucket, so it may count as full-fare for seating purposes.
