AC Rouge booked with Krisflyer?

AC Rouge booked with Krisflyer?

  1. Anonymous Guest

Hi, would like some clarification from the experts here on the board.

I am trying to book a domestic business class using Krisflyer. I need to fly from YVR to MCO. I find space on AC transcon from YVR to YYZ, and Rouge premium from YYZ to MCO. However, when I called Krisflyer, I spoke to 2 different agents, and both claimed that they cannot see any Rouge space. I tweeted SQ, and they claimed that AC Rouge are not bookable as Star Alliance partner award. I find this strange since UA displays Rouge flights, and Expert flyer showing the saver level space.

So, are Rouge space available for Star alliance partner award through Krisflyer? Anyone has any experience booking that? I know, Rouge is Rouge …. not that great of a reputation, but for me living in the Pac NW going to Orland, 40K Krisflyer miles, with the majority of the miles on lie flat transcon sounds much better than 100% on domestic F with UA. Plus UA has no space around the time that I plan to travel.

Haven’t you already asked this over on Flyertalk today?

    And yesterday?

UA have displayed Rouge/Rude space in the past also without being able to actually book it.

And Aegean seems to have problem finding the space also.

Nor is Rouge listed on Krisflyer partner page

I did, and thks for noticing. I posted in separate places since no one seems to be able to answer. I think now I do. AC Rouge confirmed through Twitter that their flights are not considered Star Alliance flights, so I guess the space seen are ‘phantom’ space.

Back to square one then ….

Do you have miles with another program? Or buy a revenue ticket?

  5. r0m8470 Member

I do. This is all part of the Starwood night-and-flight redemption plan. Trade in SPG points for a 5-night Disneyworld trip, and 50 KF. I only need to add 30 KF from my Amex MR stash. The rest we plan to use for RTW with ANA next year.

I do have SkyMiles, but saver level for domestic award is hard to come by. I guess I could go Aeroplan, but that’s 20K more Amex MR. I have some AA, but been hoarding that, for a possible trip for a family member from Asia to here in the US.

Do you have to redeem miles for a fight? I’d rather keep those KF miles for a First or Suites redemption and then just buy a revenue ticket.

    Whoa…

Do you have a link for that, by chance? Rouge is a wholly-owned subsidiary of AC, so that would be very unusual.

That’s what they said. I attached my Twitter threads with them. For my specific case, it’s somewhat of a loss. I did found space on AA, from SEA to MCO, via LAX and MIA, on their flagship 777-300ER, which is nice.

I am guessing though that not a lot of people are crying over Rouge unavailability through other Star Alliance partners.

    Glad you found an alternative!

Their social media team is…maybe not well-informed. However it does seem that KrisFlyer has issues with all the subsidiary airlines. In asking around it seems there have been similar issues booking United Express, etc.

Thanks for the heads up — definitely some more research to be done here.

It’s not the first time that a subsidiary of an alliance member is not available as redemption. Garuda’s LCC Citilink is not part of SkyTeam. Scoot is certainly not part of any Star Alliance partner redemption, although SQ KF can be used as cash voucher on most Scoot flights.

Oh, absolutely, but that’s not true for Rouge. We’ve definitely redeemed other *A miles on Rouge, so it sounds like this is a KrisFlyer issue.
