Lucky,

now that we all have a good look of the new AA award chart. Will AA allows, booking made at the old rates and then make changes after the new rates kick in but maintain the old rates ??

Choi–Ben addressed a couple of questions about this in the comments sections of the posts about the devaluation. No one knows for sure at this time but his best guess was that minor changes might be allowed as long as they don’t require the award to be repriced. If the award needs to be repriced it would need to paid for at the new rates. Either way you would need to use the ticket with one year of the original date of ticketing.

Hi Lucky,
I’m planning to book BOM-AUH-LHR return tickets on Etihad First for August next year, using AA miles. Would I be charged at the old rate or the new rate, if I book the tickets in the next few days?

Thanks.

@Rithwik — The current rates are valid for all bookings made through 3/22.

@Rithwik I just booked flights for next year with Etihad using AA and was charged the old rates so I think you should be fine

Has anyone considered the question – what happens post-3/22 award chart changes when you try to modify an AAdvantage award ticket booked prior to 3/22?

Two scenarios I’m thinking of –
1) Modify date / routing as availability opens up
2) Snagging last minute space in CX F if you only have a J seat booked prior.

Aaron, see above.
