    Lucky,

using AA miles to redeem for S Asia flight. I was able to find a oneway flight from BKK-EWR on CX
business but could not find the domestic connection to LAX in saver econ or business(direct flight was not available ). I asked the agent if I can ticket the flight and later on add the domestic segment when it becomes available but she said the add on is consider a change of destination and will incurred a $150 change fee. is this true ? thanks

Yes. If you can find any way back to LAX include that in the booking (even if it has a couple of connections). Then you can change it for no fees if space opens up later.

That is precisely my problem, I could not find the domestic connections back to LAX and the direct flight is not available.

Sorry, wasn’t clear to me. In that case what the agent is saying is correct.
