    OMAAT,

    Not sure if you’ve covered it, but I recently tried to book an OW us AS miles to Europe on AA.

    AA is showing tons of U – AA’s MileSAAver Award – as long as the flight originates someplace other than the transatlantic hub. So you could book DFW-ORD-LHR but not ORD-LHR in biz on AA (and confirmed in Expert Flyer).

    However, with AS miles you don’t even have the option of booking the DFW-ORD-LHR with AA.

    Seems like a significant change and a sneaky and underhanded way to further devalue awards on AA with AS. Can AA and AS claim a “partnership” when they have vastly different/more awards when booking with AA miles than AS miles?

    I don’t personally redeem my miles this way, so speaking from the outside looking in, but an airline limiting premium cabin, saver level reward flights to members of it’s own program is relatively common.

    The married segment logic is very frustrating though, and has been around for some time. Some people reported being able to book the DFW – ORD – LHR, then calling in to drop the DFW – ORD segment.
