AA Business Trans Con Awards
Hello Lucky. Thanks to your article a few months ago, I was able to book a super cheap business class ticket on SN from JFK to BRU r/t using Ethiad miles transferred from AMEX. I am based out of LAX was looking at AA trans con business awards. I know the saver level starts at 25K but any trans con flights are showing 32.5K. Is that the new norm for trans con flights? I have an award on hold but do you think I should just book it? If it drops to 25K, will I get refunded the difference? Thanks very much and keep up the great blog!
@JJKK, I believe that is the standard price on a three cabin aircraft. Miles do not refunded if the price drops, just as you wouldn’t have to pay more if the price goes up. You would have to cancel and rebook and decide if the fees were justified.
2 class planes serving transcon routes are 25k for business but if there is a 3 class aircraft serving it, business is 7.5k points more. Their award chart has this noted on the bottom: https://www.aa.com/i18n/aadvantage-program/miles/redeem/award-travel/flight-award-chart.jsp
