AA Award Travel Skipping Connection Leg

AA Award Travel Skipping Connection Leg

I know this has been asked before in regards to revenue tickets, but I was not sure how skipping flights works for award tickets. I am planning on traveling from LHR to XXX; however the non-stop award flight prices are absurd. There are web specials via Miami for 65K in first class. I noticed if I go from LHR to YYY, this routes the flight via XXX for a 65K web special price in first. If I miss the second flight (XXX YYY) which would take place the following day, what would happen? Should I simply miss the flight and say nothing or should I take the first leg then cancel?

Since you have to clear customs and security upon arrival in the US at your point of entry, you theoretically could do this.

I would just miss the flight, and not say anything. It is obviously frowned upon, just like a revenue ticket, but if you aren’t making a habit of it, I don’t see any issues

If FFD is open by then dont forget to go back airside after getting your bags with IAH boarding pass and have dinner at FFD…….then you can bail with out saying anything as Ricky said 🙂
