155-Room Park Hyatt Mexico City Opening 2026

155-Room Park Hyatt Mexico City Opening 2026

11

It should be a pretty exciting year or so for Park Hyatt’s portfolio in Mexico, as the brand is expected to go from no hotels to three hotels. One of these hotels is now closer to becoming a reality, as flagged by khabah.

Basics of the new Park Hyatt Mexico City

Back in 2017, plans were announced for the Park Hyatt Mexico City Hotel & Residences. At the time, the hotel was supposed to open in early 2021. As is all too common with new hotel openings, that was nowhere close to reflecting reality.

However, it looks like major progress has been made, and the property is now expected to open in 2026. One encouraging sign is that the hotel now has a dedicated webpage. The property is expected to feature 155 guest rooms and 23 residences, and it’ll be located on the upscale Campos Elíseos Street, overlooking Mexico City’s Chapultepec Park. It’ll be located right next to the existing Hyatt Regency Mexico City, which is an interesting decision.

So far, there’s not all that much information about the property, and just some very artistic renderings, which you can find below. We do know the hotel will feature at least two restaurants, an outdoor pool, and a full service spa.

The hotel is being developed in partnership with SOMA Group. In November 2024, the company shared the state of construction, and it looks like good progress has been made. It’s my understanding that a 2026 opening is what is realistically being aimed for, but that’s not to say that something couldn’t change.

The point is that this isn’t a property where they’re announcing an opening next year, when in reality, ground was just broken.

How this fits into the Mexico City hotel scene

What’s kind of cool is that Mexico currently has zero Park Hyatt properties. However, by 2026, the country should have three properties of the brand. The Park Hyatt Los Cabos is expected to open in the coming months, while the Park Hyatt Cancun is expected to open in 2026.

Mexico City is quite a competitive hotel market, with so many brands represented. While there are lots of luxury properties, interestingly, there aren’t many belonging to the major hotel loyalty programs.

While Marriott has a Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis, Hilton and Hyatt don’t have any of their true luxury brands represented there. Currently, Hyatt’s most luxurious property in Mexico City is probably the Andaz Mexico City Condesa, but that’s more upscale than luxury.

This will be a very nice addition to the Mexico City luxury points hotel scene. The Ritz-Carlton is the only modern, luxury points hotel in the city, but Ritz-Carlton isn’t exactly good with elite perks. So I think the Park Hyatt will be the most exciting luxury points hotel in the city.

This will be a competitor to the Ritz-Carlton Mexico City

Bottom line

The Park Hyatt Mexico City is on track to open in 2026. The 155-room property looks pretty beautiful, and should be an excellent new points property in the city. I look forward to learning more details, and I’ll be sure to report back when we have a more exact timeline of when the hotel will open, and when the property starts accepting reservations.

What do you make of the Park Hyatt Mexico City?

Nice to see this blog's continued in-depth coverage of the Accor scheme with the elaborate comments on the Sofitel Reforma which many consider to be the best major hotel in the city and the upper upscale Mondrian Condesa (I'm not even going to mention the NH Collections and Barcelós)!

As an expat living in San Miguel de Allende for over 20 years, we frequently visit the Polanco District whenever we can. Whenwe fly out of MEX and we need to stay over the night before, it is our first neighborhood choice just so we can enjoy what the district has to offer; i.e. delightful restaurants, upscale shopping, the list goes on. Can't wait to try the Park Hyatt out next year!

I have used the Hyatt Regency for the last 15+ years and like their consistent points availability at 12,000 per night. I am concerned that when the Park Hyatt opens next door at 35,000 points that the HR will “draft” and up their rate considerably

Those in the know: how does the Park Hyatt's location compare to other top properties in the city?

I like the area better than reforma or Santa Fe. It is close to nice restaurants.

The jw Marriott is a block away and las alcobas, now a premium Marriott boutique hotel, a 5 minute walk.

Depending on what you will be doing in the city location is convenient, depending on time and traffic. We left early from the jw for the pyramids at around 8:30 and took an hour. Downtown in the am 20’.

Like any city stay, it really depends on what you plan to do. Most luxury hotels in CDMX are in Polanco and Centro (this is Polanco). It's a nice location (Polanco is definitely the ritziest neighborhood), close to the park and many museums. I prefer to stay in Roma/Norte or La Condesa - less driving for all the restaurants and bars and I love the neighborhood feel, coffee shops, etc.

The address on the dedicated hotel page...seems to be the same address, or at least the same block, as the existing Hyatt Regency Mexico City?

@ TheRubioRoom -- Yep, indeed! Forgot to include that detail in the post, but it's updated now.

Yes, they are right next door to each other.

St Regis Mex City may not be modern but it’s a wonderful property. Elite members receive suite upgrades pretty frequently, the service is wonderful and the breakfast is not only free for elite members but excellent.

I agree but it did need a dire refresh. The bar at the Ritz has the best views of the city, so I do recommend visiting that. For my money though, nothing beats Casa Polanco (obviously not a points property).
