Germany’s second largest airline, Condor, plans to open its own lounge for the first time ever. However, some more patience will be required, and details are also still quite limited.
Condor moving to Frankfurt Terminal 3, plans its own lounges
Earlier this year, we saw Frankfurt Airport (FRA) open its new Terminal 3, which is the airport’s first new terminal in decades. We’ve already seen all airlines that previously occupied Terminal 2 move to Terminal 3.
The long term plan is that Terminal 1 will be exclusively for Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners, while Terminal 3 will be for all other airlines. Meanwhile Terminal 2 may eventually be rebuilt, as Lufthansa hopes to take it over as well, but that’s a very long term vision.

As of now, the only airline that hasn’t yet completed the move to Terminal 3 is Condor, which is Germany’s second largest airline. The carrier still operates out of Terminal 1, and uses Lufthansa lounges for its customers, despite Lufthansa’s disdain for the carrier.
The expectation is that Condor will make the move to Frankfurt Terminal 3 in the spring of 2027. As part of that, the airline also plans to open two lounges in the terminal, as reported by aeroTELEGRAPH. The expectation is that one will be a Schengen lounge, while the other will be a non-Schengen lounge.
The catch is that the lounges will only open later in 2027, due to the pace of construction. While the company’s CEO confirmed these plans in a meeting with employees, publicly the airline has only confirmed that “we are currently in discussions with our partners at Terminal 3 of Frankfurt Airport to explore the possibilities for Condor’s own lounge offering.”
No details are yet known about what kind of amenities the lounges will offer… I’m definitely curious to see what they come up with, as it’s always interesting when an airline opens a lounge for the first time!

Frankfurt Terminal 3 is getting a nice selection of lounges
Frankfurt Airport Terminal 3 is getting quite a nice selection of lounges. As things currently stand:
- There’s the SkyTeam Lounge, which is located in the non-Schengen area, so it’s intended for passengers flying on China Airlines, China Eastern, Delta, Korean Air, MEA, Saudia, and Vietnam Airlines
- There’s the Emirates Lounge, which is in the non-Schengen area, and open exclusively to Emirates passengers
- There’s the Priority Lounge, which is located in the non-Schengen area, and it’s the Priority Pass and contract lounge used by most other airlines
- There’s the Air France Lounge, which is located in the Schengen area, and it’s intended for passengers on Air France and KLM
On top of that, we know that Qatar Airways is opening two lounges in the non-Schengen area of the terminal, which will be for passengers traveling on oneworld airlines.

Bottom line
Condor is expected to move to Frankfurt Airport Terminal 3 in the spring of 2027, as it’s the last (and largest) airline to make the move to the terminal. We now officially know that Condor is planning on opening two lounges in the terminal, though they’ll likely only open in late 2027.
It’s exciting to see the airline open lounges for the first time, and only time will tell how this plays out…
