With the US Open right around the corner, it has been announced that some unique perks will be returning for American Express cardmembers, including the Centurion Suite.
In this post:
Amex Centurion Suite US Open basics
One of the best perks of The Platinum Card® from American Express (review) and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express (review) is access to Centurion Lounges. These lounges are at airports, and are for the most part significantly better than what’s offered by US airlines, as the lounges have complimentary cocktails, hot food, and more.
This year American Express will be bringing its Centurion Suite concept back to the US Open. It’s located within the Louis Armstrong Stadium, and will be a great place to relax and recharge. The Centurion Suite will be bookable by cardmembers in 60-minute slots, and will include a dining experience with bites and cocktails. Reservations will be available through this Resy link:
- For those with the Amex Centurion Card, reservations will be available starting at 9AM EST on August 8
- For those with the Amex Platinum Card, reservations will be available starting at 3PM EST on August 8
Appointments will be available between August 29 and September 7, 2022, and one-hour slots will be bookable. Each cardmember is limited to one entry per day. Platinum cardmembers can reserve for up to three people, while Centurion cardmembers can reserve for up to eight people.
Other American Express US Open benefits
In addition to the Centurion Suite, cardmembers can expect some other US Open themed perks, including:
- American Express Shop — at the US Open, an all-new contactless American Express Shop will open at Billie Jean King National Tennis Court
- American Express Card Member Lounge — in addition to the Centurion Suite, there will be an open-air patio space open to all Amex cardmembers so that they can relax and recharge, with the opportunity to purchase food & drinks
- American Express Radio — cardmembers can pick up a radio through the US Open’s cashless vending machines, and the radios have been redesigned to look like the American Express Blue Box logo
Bottom line
American Express will be bringing the Centurion Suite back to the US Open in 2022. Starting in a few days, cardmembers will be able to make reservations for a one-hour slot to enjoy complimentary snacks, and have a place to cool down. On top of that, Amex has some other US Open-themed amenities that cardmembers might find to be valuable.
If you’re going to the US Open this year, do you plan on checking out the Centurion Suite?
yesterday i was embarrassed in front of my wife and son being called lair by the staff of the american express centurion lounge. i showed the text confirmation yet they can’t find my name. Too make story short they end up admitting us but only in balcony 95 degree by our self lol
so we end up returning the stupid one token free drink and sun lotion that was given to us.

would love to report the staff member named christine if i get a chance. i hope others get better service.
What a scam.
I waited until exactly 3 PM on the day reservations were offered for platinum members and instantly, everything was sold out. This is the third year this is happened to me and American Express should be ashamed of treating their best card holders this way. But wait…. Platinum members are second class citizens but don’t lie to them.
Why does the lounge close after the 8th? We’ll be there for the men’s finals and no lounge?
is the lounge not open the last weekend? i can only see dates on Resy through the 7th.
Agreed! I’d like to reserve for the 11th.
I think it's due to the lounge being in the Louis Armstrong stadium, and the last weekend matches are all in the Arthur Ashe stadium
I think it's a bit of joke that all reservations for every single day of the tournament were gone within a minute - really?
Last year I got in by standing in line (of course the reservations were sold out last year in seconds). It only took 30 minutes or so - was worth the free lunch, drink & cute little gifts! I'll do it again this year since I didn't get a reservation.
I tried to get entry 1 hour after registration was opened and all slots are already full for platinum members for the whole event.
If u said 1 hour, I am staring 5 minutes before 3 pm and after 3 pm still sold out. It's a joke. Don't know why so quick , they all sold out for Platinum except Centurion.
I thought it was just me. Perplexed, was able to book two different days last year and I booked it a couple of days after resys opened. Tried to book 8/8 and NOTHING available
Terms say you have to have the physical card to get in. Any data points on this? And do they check your ID or can I book it for a family member with the same last name?
I plan to go, my son and his wife went last year and it was fine it wasn't crowded and he enjoyed the food and drinks.
We closed our American Express account because of the horrible Centoria lounge club. It is just awful and an embarrassment to the history of American Express is high standard that it’s set for itself. We’ve been a member of American Express for more than 30 years and they have gone way down hill.
"If you’re going to the US Open this year, do you plan on checking out the Centurion Suite?" - Hard no. Only in the ever so slight chance it doesn't have a line. Anyone who has been to the Open knows that even with a reservation, the line there is preposterous. Not even remotely worth it for a free drink.
If it doesn't have an overcrowded buffet, $7 bottles of wine, people sitting on the floor, and a line to get in, then I don't think it's really worthy of the Centurion Lounge moniker.
