We’ve just seen a new perk added to The Business Platinum Card® from American Express (review). Nothing is being taken away, so I’d say that’s a pretty great thing (thanks to Frequent Miler for flagging this).
In this post:
Amex Business Platinum gets $50 quarterly Hilton credit
The Amex Business Platinum Card issued in the United States now offers up to $200 in Hilton credits annually. This comes in the form of a credit of up to $50 each quarter. There’s no minimum spending beyond that, so as long as you spend $50+ at any eligible Hilton property each quarter, you’ll receive a statement credit for that amount. (Enrollment required)
Note that enrollment is required to use this card, so log into your Amex account and go to the “Benefits” tab. On top of that, you must enroll in the Hilton for Business program (which is Hilton’s free small business rewards program, and it’s worth participating in even beyond this new card benefit).
The statement credit will typically post within a few days, but may take up to 8-12 weeks after a booking has been paid for.
Essentially this benefit works the same as on the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card (review), which also offers up to $200 in Hilton credits annually, broken down to $50 per quarter.
Hey, this is an awesome development!
Over the years, American Express has evolved the value proposition on many of its credit cards, offering valuable credits that require enrollment and often need to be used multiple times per year. While it takes some effort, it also makes it possible to get outsized value.
I’m very happy to see the Amex Business Platinum add this new perk. If you stay at Hiltons at least once per quarter, this is like an extra $200 in value per year. Even if you only stay once or twice per year, it still amounts to some savings.
Keep in mind that when checking out of a hotel, you can typically spread your transaction across multiple cards without issue. So you can always use the Amex Business Platinum to cover $50 of your bill, and then use another card for the balance (ideally one offering bonus points on hotel spending).
Bottom line
The Amex Business Platinum now offers yet another credit, in the form of an up to $200 annual Hilton property credit. Enrolled members can receive a $50 statement credit quarterly when spending at least $50 at a Hilton property. It’s always nice to see new card perks added, so I’m a fan of this!
What do you make of the Amex Business Platinum adding a Hilton credit?
Please note: The terms clearly state "Hilton for Business membership is required. If your business does not already have a Hilton for Business account, you will be registered for one at the time you enroll in the benefit” So please make sure your readers are aware of the 'Hilton for Business membership' enrolment requirement.
This sucks. I don't use hotels much so it would have been bad enough to have a single $200 credit to use any time during the year, but to have to stay in a Hilton every quarter? I will not get value from this dumb credit. Once Chase and Capital One get more lounges built I'm probably done with AmEx.
When enrolling in Hilton for Business, the form asks for an email domain name. Anyone have a workaround for those of us without one? Thanks.
the domain name is everything after the @ of your email. I think they are assuming you're using your business email address. I don't know why they wouldn't just ask for the email address and not confuse people.
Can anyone help me? I don't have a business website and it won't except all the domain sites I tried using: Apple's iCloud and me: gmail, comcast. Any suggestions? I have a business partnership but it's just my wife and me. Thanks.
appears you need to have your own domain name, if you don'y have your own domain I don't think you can sign up, pretty deceitful to say "$200 credit"
I have my own domain for a "side business" , not my primary business. As a franchisee we don't use the franchisors domain for email, but it seems clear they won't offer without it, even with everything entered all I get is "Something went wrong. Try again later"
I have the Hilton Business card and I can verify that on that card buying gift certificates will trigger the quarterly Hilton credit. Unsure if that works for this new Biz Platinum credit.
Anybody know whether this would apply to bookings made through American Express FHR?
same question, just booked the Waldorf in Chicago for a night, just order something for $50? Or hopefully the gift card route works.
For the Gold we just transfer $7/month onto the Duncan Donauts App and get the credit
I think needing you own domain name will mean most won't get this, I am a franchisee but we don't use the franchisor domain for emails addresses
Only worthwhile at a Hampton Inn. If I remember this coupon.
More coupons to keep track of.
Lucky, my guess is that this is actually what is replacing the Dell benefit, which is still showing to end December 31, 2024.
If that's the case, this is a net negative for most cardholders, since it was pretty easy (as a business, especially) to take advantage of the Dell credit.
So, another devaluation :-/.
just a point of clarification.....the dell benefit now runs through 6/30/25.
I noticed that it asks for your account number when signing up. Do you think the credit will only be applied if this specific account number is used? For example, in the past, my wife and I have split the charges for a stay between our cards, or I’ve allowed my parents to use my card, and we still received our credits. When I enrolled in this Hilton option with my Amex Biz Platinum, which...

When I enrolled in this Hilton option with my Amex Biz Platinum, which requested the Hilton Honors account number, I wasn’t sure if it would only apply credits to charges made from that account.
Also states that the card must be registered in "Hilton for Business" using your existing HHonors account
What? Ridiculous.
And to register, you need your own domain with an email, can't be yahoo, gmail etc
Anyone else register?
I have a web site for one of my business so could use info@....
Another coupon for the coupon book. If it was simply $200 per year you could actually good value by just staying one night.
Also, anyone know if this would work for charges other than room stays, such as spa or restaurant purchases? Could then pop in to a local Hilton and get $50 of value without staying overnight.
I have used it to get breakfast at a Hilton next to where I live and gotten the credit for it.
