Air Canada has shared that it’s going to be closing its Signature Suite Toronto (YYZ) for a few months, so that it can undergo an expansion, with some new amenities coming. While this will lead to some short term frustration for premium passengers, it’ll be good news in the long run, and there’s some additional upside for guests.

Air Canada Signature Suite Toronto improving
The Air Canada Signature Suite Toronto will temporarily be closing as of September 30, 2026. This is being done so the airline can undertake “the next phase of an expansion designed to create more space and an even better experience.” The expectation is that the existing space will reopen in December 2026, while the expanded space will be completed in early 2027.
During the temporarily closure, Signature Suite eligible guests will be able to visit the International Maple Leaf Lounge, and receive priority access via a dedicated queue. Air Canada will also offer a temporary pop-up at Gate E85 with grab-and-go food and beverage options. So if you have access to the International Maple Leaf Lounge, expect that’ll look pretty rough over the coming months.
The Air Canada Signature Suite Toronto opened in 2017, and I rank it as being among the best business class lounges in the world. It has strict entry requirements (only certain long haul business class fare types get access), as this is separate from the standard Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge, so think of it almost like a great restaurant that business class passengers have access to.
The lounge is heavily focused on dining, with both a la carte options, as well as a buffet. I’m very excited to see how this space will be improved further. I know crowding has been an issue as Air Canada has grown its long haul network, so presumably expanding seating will be a primary motivation. But I’m curious what other new amenities we might see added.
The nice gesture Air Canada is offering guests
The Air Canada Signature Suite is great, so obviously it’s disappointing if you were looking forward to enjoying the facility on an upcoming trip, and now don’t get access. Admittedly that’s the issue with any sort of a lounge renovation — anything that’s good in the long run will be bad in the short term.
That’s why I think Air Canada deserves credit for the gesture it has for those who miss out on access. Passengers who have a Signature Suite eligible ticket during the closure will receive a guest pass for a future visit to the expanded Toronto Signature Suite. The pass will be issued once the expanded Toronto Signature Suite opens in early 2027, and will be valid through December 31, 2028.
The invitation will be valid in conjunction with any Air Canada flight departing to an international destination, in any class of service, and can be used by the customer or a guest.
That’s a lovely gesture, and I don’t recall an airline ever doing something like that for guests, so kudos. I imagine this shouldn’t lead to major crowding issues, both given that the current space is being expanded, plus given that the passes are valid for nearly two full years, so redemptions will be spread out.
Bottom line
The Air Canada Signature Suite Toronto will be undergoing an expansion and renovation, as it opened back in 2017. The lounge will be closing as of September 30, 2026, and is expected to reopen in December 2026, with the expansion opening in early 2027.
What’s good is that Air Canada will give eligible guests a pass to use the lounge in the future, which is at least a nice gesture. I’m excited to see what all is changing, as it’s about time I revisit this lounge!
