Last night I stumbled upon a YouTube Short that I can’t stop thinking about. I’m curious if anyone can make more sense of this than I can?
In this post:
This YouTube Short is messing with my mind…
A YouTube user uploaded a YouTube Short with the title “what I ate on a ten hour flight with air Lufthansa from London to Calgary.” The video is 59 seconds, so if you have a moment, watch it for yourself.
The title intrigued me, since Lufthansa doesn’t actually fly to Calgary (let alone nonstop from London), so I clicked on the video to learn more. Well, that was a mistake, because it only increased my level of confusion.
So here’s my thought process as I went through the video:
- She shows Heathrow Terminal 3, which isn’t where Lufthansa departs from, and it’s also not where WestJet departs from (which… is relevant)
- Then she shows her seat, which is most definitely not a Lufthansa seat, but instead it’s a WestJet Boeing 787 economy seat
- Then all the food and other inflight services shown are indeed from WestJet, so obviously she was just confused, and she was flying WestJet and not Lufthansa… fair enough!
- But wait, at the end of the video, she shows the “cute chocolate” that was handed out on the flight, which is Lufthansa branded
What is actually going on here?!?
I’m absolutely not trying to pick on this rather. Quite to the contrary, as an avgeek, I want to commend her for possibly publishing the world’s greatest avgeek puzzle. If I were to create a video to make you all confused as heck, I’m not sure I could do much better than this. I suspect these are some honest mistakes and this isn’t the case of an avgeek pulling our leg, but there’s so much in this video I can’t make sense of?
- How does Terminal 3 fit into this, when Lufthansa departs from Terminal 2 and WestJet departs from Terminal 4?
- The wing view clearly shows she was flying the WestJet 787 nonstop from London to Calgary (based on the landscape and wing), so this wasn’t a case of connecting from Lufthansa to WestJet
- The picture of the Lufthansa chocolate is in a glass jet bridge, so does anyone know if Calgary Airport has glass jet bridges? I don’t believe so, so I’m wondering if this was just from a totally unrelated flight that somehow made its way into the video (and caused her to believe she was flying Lufthansa), or what…
The best theory I can come up with here is that she somehow just incorporated aspects of all parts of her Europe trip into this video, regardless of whether or not they were related to this flight. Maybe she arrived at Terminal 3 at the start of her trip, then she took a flight within Europe on Lufthansa and got the chocolate, and somehow that made it all into the return flight review.
Bottom line
I can’t stop trying to make sense of a YouTube Short about a “Lufthansa” transatlantic flight, because there’s so much throwing me off.
Can anyone help?
The beginning of the OTM podcast deals with a guy who buys websites, fills them with junk, and makes a LOT of money off the clicks, even though he's not generating legit content. This reminds me of that.

I wonder how much she had to drink that day. I scrolled through her channel and she seems to be college aged but she’s just confusing in general. Sounds like she got into UC Davis Class of 2025 but ended up going to SDSU? But then she holds up a LifeAtMary sign? I’m not convinced she’s not a bot.
Def. Slow news day for Lucky!
Too bad. So sad.
The misinformation here is nowhere as bad as those "basic questions" interviews which are either scripted or purposely chose all the dumbest answers to make Americans look even dumber.
The only thing missing was Hello Kitty luggage !
This article shouldn't exist just like how that video shouldn't exist. Next time, keep scrolling
You are spending way too much time on this... she is dimwit, as dumb and dumb can be... you are over thinking this, she is an idiot
Too many fake videos out there. Just to make a quick $$$. Then you as an affluent flyer can see immediately that it's all wrong. Should leave a comment on that video so others can stop watching it.
Weird Chinese Canadian making weird Chinese Canadian video. YouTube is full of these .
Made you look. Mission accomplished.
Luftjet? Westhansa?
That has to be the best vlog troll I've ever seen.
Lufthansa ticker, air canada flight?
Perhaps the video short was produced using random airport/airline clips from the internet.
Also, she was served a "breakfast snack" two hours prior to landing, but westbound TA flights don't arrive in the morning.
Did Lufthansa potentially do some sort of "special wet-lease", as part of the Strike disruptions going on? So they only provided the chocolate?
I read a Luftthansa review by The Points Guy (I think) that said Lufthansa provides sleep shirts on transatlantic flights. They didn't. They did provide cardboard-like slippers. The amenities bag had very little in it. Then the return trip was cancelled after I was already at the airport, and despite my filling out a reimbursement request for the two extra days I had to wait to get a flight home, with PDF copies of the...

The amenities bag had very little in it. Then the return trip was cancelled after I was already at the airport, and despite my filling out a reimbursement request for the two extra days I had to wait to get a flight home, with PDF copies of the receipts, I have been denied, first because they said the flight was not an EU flight and therefore not entitled to the EU261 rights, then because they said I did not provide receipts. Should I go to court?
Are you planning to sue because you were delayed? Or just over the pyjamas?
You didn't mention what route were you travelling on. For the Regulation 261/2004 to apply on a community carrier, you need to be travelling either from or to an airport within the community (EU, EFTA, etc.). If you're merely transiting there, i.e. YYZ-FRA-SIN, the regulation doesn't apply.
It's a fake influencer, probably using AI generated content, just to get clicks. Facts/reality don't matter.
If you want more info on this clicks over reality approach, go talk to your Boarding Area colleague Leff at VFTW, he's an expert.
Great explanation. Just an influencer making up a flight or perhaps part of the video is real mixed with random video clips.
Lucky, your "mistake" is assuming that people actually travel to post reviews and/or have any idea what they are talking about...
Given the number of people posting reviews of hotels they've never visited, luggage they've never used or airlines they've never been on, this is no surprise. Maybe ChatGPT pulled together random videos and text from different sources to make this up... Or she jumbled different trips into one video?

A lot of the travel content these days is very poor quality - so, THANK YOU, Lucky, for actually flying all over the world on random airlines, getting downgraded/delayed/cancelled, taking lots of pictures and copious notes, providing your insights, based on millions of miles of travels and giving us informed reviews, to make better travel choices ourselves!
I'm sure this kind of stuff makes your readers appreciate your content a lot more...
This just simply goes to show that there are a large number of airline customers who think they know the industry and are clearly confused. Problem is that people like her produce content that is watched by plenty of people who are incapable of knowing that the source of the content is equally confused.
Welcome to the world of rampant social media. One of the side effects is low quality.

But, of course, none of that happens in the comments section of this or any other aviation related site.
RIGHT! I agree fully!
I took the liberty of going on her channel and she doesn't have much content but she has definitely flown quite a bit in economy this year. Also she sounds like a young teenager possibly traveling with her parents. Probably pieced together a bunch of footage she took and didn't organize it well and mixed up flights.
Lufthansa-Westjet codeshare? Assuming that they are alliance partners - I don't fly international much anymore, and never have on Westjet. Possibly she carried the chocolate dessert over from her Lufthansa connecting flight to the Westjet London-Calgary flight?
The international terminal in yyc does have glass like that.
Steph nailed it earlier: she's travelling on a Lufthansa ticket from (probably Germany) via London to Calgary and didn't notice/care that the metal she boards at Heathrow belongs to Westjet. At least she got the pudding description spot-on.
If I had to guess, it's just a bunch of clips jammed together to be able to put something up on YouTube with accuracy not being a big goal. She has very few views and few subscribers, so unless she is a budding reviewer, she is not a real airline review channel like many of the well-established channels that I am sure many of us know and watch. Given the low engagement, she might even be someone who is trying to mimic channels she watches which would also lend to accuracy not being a big priority. Given that people like us are not her target audience, maybe she thought "they won't know the difference" but then you found it. And wrote about it. And I suspect her view count from this article is about to go way up! LOL! The video has no comments yet, but I wonder when that will change. I may have to check back in 24 hours!
It could be a video generated by an algorithm or AI. Those used work by having a written script, and then the computer would sift through a bunch of video sources looking for footage to match the script. If they pump out enough content like this, eventually one video will get lucky, get suggested to enough users, and draw in some views and some money.
It's a huge problem for YouTube to find and take down videos like that, due to the scale of the problem.
These are the kind of influencers that Lufthansa should sue and leave people like the guy who took a picture of himself with the CEO’s cardboard cutout alone…
Simple - it’s the slow and steady decline of humanity brought about gen Z social media influencers who will do anything for a couple of clicks.
LOL! And a couple of clicks is about all she is getting, though I suspect Ben is about to change that for her!
Does Alaska Air flies to Calgary? There’s a Alaska Air plane next to her…
Yes it does.
Why would you be surprised that YouTubey contains a video full of false claims ?
That's like being surprised by the realization that goats have horns.
I make videos on YouTube about flights and I've seen content like this before. I think she may have pieced together footage from a couple of different trips she's taken without fully appreciating the differences between different aircraft, airlines, and their service offerings.
Maybe she didn't fully appreciate the distinctions among these different experiences (or even recall exactly what she'd done in the past)?
In any event, that's what I hope happened --...

In any event, that's what I hope happened -- I guess it could also have been an attempt at garnering views since there's more interest in Lufthansa than in Westjet -- but when in doubt, assume positive intent!
Wait...is this THE Jeb Brooks! "I make videos on YouTube about flights" is a very humble way of putting. Probably the BEST videos about flights! Mind blown that my top blog source and top YouTube source have crossed...a bending of space time continuum or some such! LOL!
Must be the real Jeb. "But when in doubt, assume positive intent!" is just the most Jeb thing to say (and I love it).
This would seem to be a pretty reasonable explanation. Someone with little knowledge of how airlines operate, yet figuring that such a flight would be a great place to make a video and get some views. Not like some of the real pros who's vids are professional, smooth, relaxed and even include their charming spouse.
If this is the real jeb brooks that would be pretty cool!
Jeb Brooks OMAAT

Jeb!
There are so many social media travellers. that don't actually travel. And don't get me started on the people that do hotel or restaurant lists for various European cities...and when you're there you realize they just nodded to the top five on t
Trip Advisor. It's all about content and clicks, truth and reality is irrelevant.
I think you are putting way to much thought into this. I assume she just picked random footage from the internet, did a voice over and uploaded it to get views... which worked quite well after you posted it here I assume....
A man's hand is holding "her" chocolate at the end...
Air Lufthansa(!)
When the urge to post 'content' exceeds your capacity for simple comprehension....you should probably quit vlogging and take up painting or flute lessons.
That said, we look forward to reviews of Britain Airways and Air French.
What really has me confused is 0:44. She shows an A350 engine which in the lighting looks black (might be blue though). This doesn't fit at all given the rest of the video shows a 787 and mentions some Lufthansa stuff. Any ideas what this is?
Good catch! That might be the engine on a Delta or BA A350?
It appears she flew TAP from NY to Lisbon: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Nhho-pVvd00
Her other shorts suggest that she travelled at least to Spain and France besides spending some time in London.
My guess: She had a Europe round trip, which at some point included a Lufthansa flight. In London she might have gotten off public transport in the wrong location, or she might have travelled with someone who took a flight from T3. Then took the...

The air bridge looks like those in Munich. Would make sense to include Munich as a stop in the Europe trip.
She possibly uploaded those videos a while after the trip (would explain the wrong order) and didn't correctly remember anymore which photos belong together, even though they should've had different dates...
I was doing quite well until the end (French writing on the food, so a Canadian carrier) but the LH chocolate at the end threw me as well!
In regards to my previous post: you can by indeed an economy ticket from FRA to YYC with a Lufthansa flight connecting to a Westjet flight at LHR in economy from online travel aganecy with the note "self-transfer". It's among the cheapest options. So most likely that's what she did.
The glass bridge looks like Munich T2, they have these blueish glass bridges.
Someone who writes „Air Lufthansa“ cannot be taken seriously anyway.
The snippet featuring the chocolate appears more reminiscent of a jetbridge at Munich Airport rather than Calgary. Terminal 2 at LHR also boasts a couple of glass jetbridges. It's possible she flew with Lufthansa to LHR and captured the video of the chocolate there. She may have transferred from a Lufthansa flight at Heathrow, possessing a Lufthansa-printed boarding pass for her WestJet flight. She likely traveled from Terminal 2 to Terminal 4 via Terminal 3,...

Someone just tries to make easy money by posting videos and doesn't care about the content, like most of these TikTok/YT Shorts pseudo-creators do.
I wouldn't be surprised if that person never actually took that flight and just used some random videos from the internet.
Vlogging isn't for everyone...
Your only choice is to book Air Lufthansa from London to Calgary and see for yourself.
I second this motion.
Lufthansa does not fly from FRA to YYC, nor does WJ. However, Discover (LH subsidiary) does. YYC also does not have glass bridges. Perhaps the person who did this video is confused or trying to mess with us avgeeks?
