For those of you not familiar with Amex Offers, it’s a program available through most Amex cards, where different cards are eligible for different savings offers. In many cases the savings can be huge, and more than offset the annual fee on a card.

To view Amex Offers, go to the bottom of the account summary page of any American Express card, where you’ll see all the offers you’re eligible for. Most of these offers are for a discount when you spend a certain amount with a retailer, and registration is required. Over the past year I’ve saved about a thousand dollars using Amex Offers.

At the moment there’s a targeted Amex Offer for $60 off a $200+ Hyatt stay. The offer is valid between October 10 and December 31, 2016. The promotion is for US properties, and excludes Hyatt Residence Club, Hyatt Vacation Club, Hyatt Travel, Hyatt Vacations and Hyatt at Home.

The full terms of this promotion are as follows:

Reservations must be made online at, via the Hyatt mobile app or by phone. Offer only valid at Hyatt properties in the US. Excludes Hyatt Residence Club, Hyatt Vacation Club, Hyatt Travel, Hyatt Vacations and Hyatt at Home. Offer only valid on room rate and room charges. Offer not valid for stays that are paid for before or after the promotion start and end dates. Excludes purchases of Gold Passport rewards points. Excludes physical gift and e-gift card purchases. Enrollment limited. Offer is non-transferable. Must add offer to Card and use same Card to redeem. Limit 1 statement credit(s) per American Express® online account. Statement credit will appear on your billing statement within 90 days after 12/31/2016, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase. Statement credit may be reversed if qualifying purchase is cancelled. If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the statement credit. For example, your transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant. In addition, in most cases, you may not receive the statement credit if your transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party or if the merchant uses a mobile or wireless card reader to process it. By adding an offer to a Card, you agree that American Express may send you communications about the offer. POID: CAZE:0001

Save $60 on your next stay at the Park Hyatt Washington DC

Bottom line

This promotion will certainly save me some cash on my next stay at a US Hyatt property. If you tend to stay at Hyatt hotels, be sure you check your Amex account to see if any of your cards were targeted for this promotion. You’ll want to register as soon as possible, as registration for these offers is limited.

Also keep in mind that you can get a $50 statement credit when you spend $500+ at a U.S. Hyatt Regency property with your Hyatt Visa Card by December 31, 2016.

I think it goes without saying that the Amex Offers promotion is better, though perhaps some people will be able to max out both offers.

  1. I have an Aerolineas Argentinas spend $500 get $100 (SPG personal), Virgin Atlantic spend $1000 get $200 (SPG personal / PRG), Best Western spend $100 get $20 (PRG), the ANA spend $1000 get 20,000 MR (PRG), but no Hyatt. That’s the only one of these I would actually be able to use…lol

  2. Hi Ben,

I’m considering flying etihad’s the residence from Abu Dhabi to LHR, the price is roughly 16000 USD, do you think this is a price worth paying?

  3. @ Steven Liu

Consider that EY11 is less than an 8 hour flight, would you really be able to get $16k worth of enjoyment out of it? It’s not even really long enough to sleep/eat/shower.

  4. I have an award stay coming up so there should be zero charge. But say I eat at the Hotel restaurant and the charges come up to be $200. With the AMEX offer apply to this? It does say the state has to be booked through the Hyatt website. These were free night awards I called in.

  5. Despite the language, does the AmexOffer for $60 work if you buy a physical gift card for $200 at a Hyatt property?
