Hello from Ireland!

Those of you that guessed I was flying Aer Lingus were correct. I just flew from Boston to Dublin on Aer Lingus, which is a fantastic value at only 25,000 British Airways Avios in business class one-way. At under 3,000 miles and 5hr40min in the air, it’s an incredibly short transatlantic flight.

I’ll have a full trip report soon, though in the meantime here are a few pictures:

The one aspect of the flight that was completely unacceptable were the breakfast offerings. I don’t know how Aer Lingus can call themselves an airline while serving a COLD breakfast prior to landing. I mean, there’s a full 90 minutes between dinner and breakfast. What are these people thinking?!?

(Yes, I’m kidding in case it’s not obvious)

Isn´t a cold breakfast pretty standard on TATL eastbound overnights? I know my SQ C breakfast was similar to this one, croissant, muesli, fruit, yoghurt. Presentation was ten times better of course. Swiss and SAS also have a cold breakfast offering in C.

@ John -- You have to call BA to ask about availability, as it's slightly different than what United has access to. Taxes were about $150 per ticket. Seats were angled flat.

How did you find business class availability, I checked united, only shows economy, what was the taxes, was it LieFlat Seats?

Love Ireland! Proposed to my 'now' wife in September 2010 at a beautiful Bed & Breakfast in the country side. Also flew business class home, except home was in Seattle so its a much longer flight :)

And you did not get the signature treatment?....Lingus...

  6. lucky OMAAT

@ John -- They were all European (mostly Irish, and a couple of French flight attendants too).

@ Dan -- Nope, these are all Canon photos. No likey?

  7. Dan Guest

Are you going with only iphone photos lately instead of Canon?

Ben- Were the flt attendants Irish or American? I read somewhere that Aer Lingus fired some of their Irish based flt attendants and hired cheaper foreign (I think U.S.) based flt attendants.

@ Acker -- Hah, that was the best part of the meal!

@ Thomas -- There were three empty seats.

I don't think the food looks that bad.

Yuck to the food. Is that a hamburg patty or a piece of dessert? Yuck to either.

I think I just threw up a little bit in my mouth looking at that main course. Is it a bowl of cheese with some squash bits thrown in for color?

How did you find business class availability, i cant find it

From other TRs I have seen, Aer Lingus' food isn't usually presented well but tastes all right...guess we'll have to wait and see.

Ahh. Aer Lingus longhaul has the same fascination with minicans of cola that want to be bigger cans when they grow up ;)

And don't moan about a TATL Breakie. Down the back its a beaker of Orange Juice. Which makes it the worst TATL breakfast going down the back.

I'll let you guess who I think has the 2nd worse breakie down the back of the plane ;)

    Food looks disgusting....

Doubin' up the Diet coke eh? =P

The main course looks dreadful. Hope it tasted better than he looks... I also eat with my eye...

    What was the load ?

I think in Y they don't serve breakfast from BOS, just a beverage run:
