Last week I shared the video of an insane situation that escalated on a JetBlue flight from Long Beach to Sacramento. There were several passengers who were acting ridiculously, and three passengers ended up being removed from the flight for their behavior.
The most ridiculous guy, who also seemed to be the instigator, couldn’t have come across as more of a jerk. When someone called him a loser he explained that he owns six houses, makes $4 million per year, and has an IQ of 176. Alrighty then!
He knew the whole situation was being recorded, and even said his full name, because he thought he had nothing to hide. Well, it seems he was wrong, because he has received over 15,000 negative comments on Facebook, and claims he received hundreds of threatening emails at his workplace, causing him to shut down his Facebook.
And now the passenger is issuing an apology… and is saying he doesn’t make anywhere close to $4 million per year (shocker!). Via CBS News:
“I’m standing up for my mistakes,” said passenger David Brackett. “I’m not blaming anybody but myself for the actions that I did.”
“The PTSD thing that I do have, it’s the first time where I’ve had to do something that I regret,” said Brackett.
He blames his outburst on post-traumatic stress disorder, which he said developed after a motorcycle crash that broke almost every bone in his body.
Apparently his PTSD kicked in after another passenger suggested that the flight attendant was of Middle Eastern descent, and therefore likely had a bomb. I don’t claim to fully understand PTSD, but it’s unfortunate that someone being a racist is what supposedly led to his PTSD outbreak…
Bottom line
It’s anyone’s guess whether he was actually suffering from PTSD, or is just a jerk. If he was suffering from PTSD, it’s unfortunate that arose due to a (presumably) baseless racist comment from another passenger, about the flight attendant probably having a bomb because she was of Middle Eastern descent.
With how widespread smartphones are nowadays, the reality is that very little which happens in public (or even private) stays private…
Wow no one talks about the racist or the fat girl who demanded that the other guys disembark too.

Does this mean I can claim to be suffering from PTSD next time I feel like I'm about to lose my temper? Or should I close my eyes, take a deep breath and make the feeling go away? After doing the math on this I think I'll choose the latter.

Is a "bottom line" really necessary on every post? Seems so formulaic at this point.
Its kinda why you might want to hold off posting these stories until you get at least 20% of the facts. I know your love for the housewives type journalism might lead for a "post first, get details later" mentality but bloggers and news sites alike need to realize once they post something it's out there...whether it's true or not.
