Southwest Premier Business Card offering 60K points

The Southwest Premier Business Card currently has a welcome offer where you can earn 60,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 within the first three months.

Rapid Rewards is a revenue-based frequent flyer program, and personally, I value Rapid Rewards points at 1.2 cents each. So to me, the 60,000 points are worth $720.

Who is eligible for the Southwest Premier Business Card?

Who is eligible for the welcome bonus on the Southwest Premier Business Card? Southwest Airlines and Chase have several co-branded credit cards. As far as Southwest credit card eligibility requirements go, you’re not eligible for the bonus on this card if you currently have it, or if you’ve received a new cardmember bonus on this exact card in the past 24 months.

That means you’re eligible for the bonus on the card even if you have Southwest’s other business card, the Southwest® Rapid Rewards® Performance Business Credit Card (review).

Chase’s standard credit card application policies apply.

Eligibility is unrelated to having any other Southwest card

Why the Southwest Premier Business Card is worth it

The Southwest Premier Business Card has a reasonable $99 annual fee, and offers a variety of perks that will offset that on an ongoing basis, including:

  • 6,000 Rapid Rewards bonus points on your account anniversary every year, which should get you roughly $72 worth of airfare on Southwest
  • Two EarlyBird Check-Ins per anniversary year, which can get you a better boarding position; this would ordinarily cost $15-99, so that’s potentially a $30-198 value
  • 25% savings on inflight Wi-Fi and drink purchases, when you charge those purchases to your card
  • Up to $500 in fee credits for points transfers every cardmember year; Southwest ordinarily charges one cent per point to transfer rewards to another member, so this allows you to transfer 50,000 Rapid Rewards points per year to someone else
  • A rewards structure that includes 3x points on Southwest purchases, 2x points on Rapid Rewards points on hotel and rental car partner purchases, and 2x points on local transit and commuting, including rideshare
  • The ability to have your spending count toward A-List elite status, as you earn 1,500 Tier Qualifying Points toward A-List for every $5,000 you spend on the card

If you fly Southwest with any frequency, the anniversary bonus points and EarlyBird Check-Ins should more than cover the annual fee on an ongoing basis.

I normally apply for cards through referral links from friends, but when one isn't available, your links are the only ones I'll apply through, and today I'm doing just that for this card. Why: Your attention to detail and accuracy in the travel space is extraordinary, and your writing is sharp, engaging and crystal clear. I still sort of can't believe you're the sole writer for this site! Thanks for all you do, and keep on keeping on.
