This is probably my favorite thing I've seen all week... This week United Airlines resumed nonstop flights between Newark and Munich, after the route was put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic. For the most part there's not much fanfare associated with routes resuming, since there's not much to "celebrate" right now. As noted…

Laughing at someone because of his physical looks... A new low... even for you

@ Rafael -- You're reading into something that isn't there, and also into something that I didn't say. This has absolutely *nothing* to do with the person's looks. I'm smiling because of the costume and overall setup. It has nothing to do with the person wearing the costume, and I'd be equally amused regardless of gender, age, etc.

And again, I'm not laughing at anyone here. This honestly made my week and put the biggest smile on my face.

@Rafael
It’s intrinsically ridiculous for someone to impersonate the Statue of Liberty.

So are you arguing that only “beautiful” people are allowed to do this? Or people who look exactly like the original? That strikes me as far more discriminatory...

Look at the little cardboard cut-out torch. The whole thing is obviously meant to make you smile.

If I wanted to make a more serious point, I’d be quoting the text on the statue’s base and comparing it to the US’s current policies:

“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

It's a publicity stunt and here it is generating publicity, so it works.
I agree, it's good to see something in the airline industry at the moment which raises one's spirits.

Not sure where this person works, but if I was an airport employee that was potentially dealing with crazy customers all day...I'd consider wearing the Statue of Liberty costume too! 🙂 It literally made me snort when I saw this post in my email. Thanks for a good laugh this morning!

NY is enforcing a 14 day quarantine on nearly every state in the US, but somehow this is acceptable? We (the US) will have CV for another 18 months at this rate.

Did they do anything when Washington flights were resumed a month ago?

(This is pretty funny though)

@Rafael go f**k yourself. Honestly how miserable of a person are you to accuse someone like this. Everyone has problems, don’t f**king use that as an out to scold someone for nothing.

Welcome to all those Americans with take-your-pick-from-my-multitude-of-duel-citizen-passports. Just don't show us an American passport because you are not welcome.

I guess you need to be an American to appreciate this sort of thing.
Ironic that screaming about your actual "Liberties' and Freedom (not to wear a mask etc) is killing a fair few of you!

Your opinion on anything, @kcb, is of zero interest. The trolls sure seem to have time on their hands lately….
