So I have been wondering about this. I am an AU on my dad's United Presidential Plus card, could he use his status to guest my sister into the club, and then I use the card to enter with him?

A few weeks ago was denied access to United Club (AUS airport) when flying because my Boarding Pass did not show my Star Alliance Gold Status (LH Senator). Lounge agent said it’s “new policy” that showing valid Star Alliance Gold Card is not enough, but FF number must be on boarding pass. I had the flight crediting to my United MileagePlus account, but in order to access lounge, agent said I needed to switch FF number on boarding pass. In other locations, I just showed my (digital) card to agent and they entered it in. Per terms on United website, “A valid Star Alliance Gold membership card and a same-day boarding pass for travel on a flight operated by a Star Alliance member airline and departing from the same airport or a same-day boarding pass showing Star Alliance Gold status, for travel on a flight operated by a Star Alliance member airline and departing from the same airport.”

I would add, I was flying on UA on a domestic F paid ticket.

@EthanInSF: Per terms listed, the *A Gold number is not required on the boarding pass. I am starting to wonder if this is due to fraud with fake or photoshop'ed membership cards on the phone. There may not be an easy way for the lounge agent to validate their legitimacy. A few bad apples may have made it difficult for everyone else.

You can pay for the United Chase Club Card with 30k United Miles instead of $550.

It would be nice if you could offer your own opinion on which is the best strategy/value, especially for people flying within the US on domestic flights...or which non-United Star Alliance membership program you'd recommend.

Hello. i have a flight from ORD to Jamaica. In business class (there is no first). I chatted in and the rep said no access to any lounges. This seems to not be in line with the website which says: United Polaris is available on trans-Pacific or trans-Atlantic flights, and on flights from the U.S. to these South American destinations: Buenos Aires, Lima, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Santiago. All other international routes are United Business® and include use of the United Club: Guam, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, Central America, Colombia and Ecuador.

I read the above to say if im going to the Caribbean i can access the United Club lounges. am i interpreting this wrong ? Its so frustrating to get conflicting info and not get straight answers from agents after 10 mins trying to fight a chatbot

Please Read, very important!!! My daughter and wife today flew 1st class from BWI to SFO, with a five hour stop over than onto PHNL. They were refused the UAL lounge, why, because they started out from the East coast, not from EWR, but from BWI…what a bunch of “BS”. Is New Jersey better than Maryland or something, what could possible be the reason for shunning your clientele the opportunity to rest in your lounge. You just lost a UAL supporter big time. Especially since I’m a retired pilot myself from the Major’s, I find your position ridiculously inconsiderate, I mean EAST COAST to HAWAII, FIRST CLASS TICKETS and NO ACCESS to the SFO Lounge, WOW!!!!
