The week of Thanksgiving both O'Hare and Midway now are now allowing Uber and Lyft pickups
Even if it were to cost slightly more, I would still use Lyft or Uber in Vegas on principle. Vegas is one of few US cities where I truly dread taking cabs. I always direct them to take the most direct route to the strip (i.e. NOT long hauling me to the highway) and half the time either receive nasty comments back from the driver or flat out lies. (I.E. "There's a lot of traffic on Paradise right now... it will take twice as long"... and then when we get there and there is no traffic to be told "Oh, it must have cleared up.")
While the cab queue is very near the bag claim/terminal vs walking past it into the parking decks at LAS, it can be quite long.
And as DWT says, many of the cab drivers simply lie and take fares out to the interstate despite being told not to.
All that said, Uber might be better for navigating the strip rather than LAS transit if for nothing else other than a cleaner car and ability to avoid cab lines at the hotels.
Wonder if weekend nights will entail surge pricing?
I am a huge fan of alternatives rides. Vegas cabbies can't drive, don't know the city. Every time I've take a cab my fare has ranged from $35 to $60 driver deliberately went the wrong way and had the nerve to as for a tip
I always Uber now in Las Vegas. From McCarran to Summerlin; $34. Taxi; $112 and he refused to give me change for a $20. "Mandatory tip," he called it.
