Southwest Flight Credits No Longer Expire

Can we use the flight credits for any passenger or are they restricted to the original passenger on the ticket?

Does this include LUV vouchers?

Depends on what type of fare you purchased. The fare type tells you if a credit can be used for someone else.

This is great for getting into airports for dropping people off or just to eat and use the lounge!

Bold move, but after 5 years they'll revisit the idea. They could make it work, but I'm skeptical about that.

i canceled my Christmas trip primarily because I suffered a stroke only four weeks before I was set to leave. My ticket was set to expire or be used by August 29 so this is wonderful news. Hope it's true. .

Good for them. I haven't flown Southwest since they denied me using a flight credit because it had expired the week before. I don't plan to go back.

This just made Amex Plat and Hilton Aspire credits that much more valuable, if it can sustain!

Good moving forward but it should have been the policy earlier especially during the pandemic. I had two vouchers expire and I wasn’t a happy camper.

This has nothing to do with that. You could have always done what you said above with fully refundable tickets.
However if you make it a habit of frequently booking tickets that you have zero intention of traveling and cancelling on the day of - (especially if you start getting in the way of airlines selling full fare tickets to last minute business travelers), then you can expect the hammer drop on you.

Great idea! I agree this sets them apart and people will think about using them. I also like they match you up with any credits you have when you login to your account. No keeping track of ticket numbers, etc. It's all there.

I don't travel on SW that often, but when I do it'll be a good item to use if need be. Also, the airline will put you in a seat and they likely feel it's pretty minimal cost since they got your money up front.

I have a LUV voucher that will expire soon. Could I just use it (and with some cash) to buy a ticket, and then cancel it for travel credit that will not expire according to the new rule? I would lose some flexibility (I cannot use it for other passenger) but I am okay with that.
