A couple got married on a Southwest Airlines flight a few days ago, and apparently it wasn’t planned.

Very cute. The most fun I have ever had in economy was on a Christmas Eve flight to Las Vegas on Southwest. The attitude was, its Christmas Eve, we are going to Vegas, so lets party!

When things are good, Southwest can be a fun airline to fly.

Cute story.

In before all the people complaining about how terrible it would have been to be on that flight.

awwww, how adorable. It's much more pleasant to read things like this than fights on airplanes. Social media companies please take note: Promote cute stories like this NOT stories cause outrage! So sick of them!

Cute story, but I call BS, in large part because even if they did have a ceremony, it is unlikely that they actually got married. To be legal they would have had to have known they were going to be married in the air and have gotten a license from whatever jurisdiction whose airspace they were getting married in. Since there is a 72-hour waiting period between licensing and marrying in Texas, even if they got the license in Dallas they wouldn't have been able to use it.

"Their flight from Dallas to Las Vegas was canceled, causing them to miss their wedding appointment"

Ahh why not just get married the next day or at a different Vegas chapel, or is there only one place in Vegas to get married and you have to make an appointment months in advance haha.

This seems a lot more fun and enjoyable for the other passengers than the other recent story about people “praising Jesus” on a plane with a guitar. But is it really that different?

I wouldn't want to be married on a flight because there is no marking of the spot. Better to be married on the plane parked at an airport.

Sweet story! Wonderful they didn’t have to wear masks for the occasion!

Cute story but if someone was looking to rest or wanted a normal flight this could be quite a nuisance. For example, I wouldn’t want to go to a restaurant that was having a stranger’s wedding with announcements over a loudspeaker.

Wedding on a plane.

Cute.

Wonder where their divorce will be held.

Kind of a sweet and cheesy all in one. I guess it beats getting married in an all night Las Vegas chapel.

For the rest of us, you not flying SWA is more of a reason to pick that airline.
And congratulations to the happy couple

It's like the airline equivalent of getting married at Walmart. Trashy with a high chance of divorce and an appearance on COPS.

SO they flew AA from OKC to DFW and no one (passengers, crew etc) noticed or bat and eyelid the fact they were wearing full wedding attire yet it was straight away noticed on SW??

So …. In what state was the ordained minister registered in? I mean, was this a legal ceremony at all? The wedding paperwork needs to be filed as having taken place in a jurisdiction. Did they sign the papers on the ground?

She was flying in THAT dress??! I've seen some weird stuff in airports, but for her own comfort, I can't see her sitting in a SWA seat in a strapless, full skirted dress.

He was online ordained so it was legal!
And yes…once we landed we got our certificate and he signed it : )

Well…we did get a lot of attention in the airports and on our first flight; but NOTHING (obviously) like what the AMAZING SWA did for us!

Trust me…I had plenty of shoes packed in my suitcase : )

If we had arrived in Vegas, as originally planned, we had to literally “get to the church on time” so we were not going to have any time to change. So why not wear a wedding dress on a plane? Clearly it worked out for me : )

Well Jesse,

Sorry you feel that way. If you knew me at all, “spontaneous and fun” should be my middle name. Getting married on a SWA flight wasn’t our intent…but the universe had other plans. Had I known you were so upset by our choices, I would’ve invited you to Cabo (hence requiring the fun Vegas wedding for legal reasons) for the BIG wedding with our family and friends.

Also, don’t watch COPS, I’ve never even been arrested but I have had a couple of speeding tickets; so I’m certain we’ll never be on TV getting arrested. We have been guests on many news outlets and talk shows and have tried to even bring attention to a couple of charities.

If you want to send us a wedding gift though, I’ll gladly give you our address.

Well Sel…

We didn’t seem to experience anybody that was bothered-in fact, if you could’ve seen all the passengers faces (as I did) walking from the back of the plane to the front-you’d still be smiling : )

Guess it’s a good thing you weren’t on our flight; the universe made a very fun memory for us and it appears it avoided a nuisance for too! Win-Win!

Well Steve…
We wanted it to be on a specific date…not the next day. ‍♀️ Or I would’ve made those specific plans and worn a wedding dress in three different airports!

Well I guess I “recall” your BS. We had a plan and things scheduled but Mother Nature just got in the way-so we made some adjustments and with the help of many stars aligning, we got a wedding story that is still even a tad hard for us to believe!

If you’re really concerned in the legalities of my marriage: we got the license once we landed (the courthouse was open), but the chapel (where we had a scheduled appointment) was closed-but since we found our amazing ordained minister in the Dallas airport, he was able to legally sign the certificate since he indeed, did perform the ceremony (I’ve got the exact coordinates, if you’re interested.)

Hope you can now rest easier with this info.
