Guessing the B6/EK agreements will be ditched. If the fortunes of the industry improve, B6 and AA are headed for a merger in a few years, facilitated through a SPAC.
I hope jetBlue and Alaska get to stay independent. They are both so much better than American to fly.
I wouldn't be surprised if jetBlue joins oneworld, and if they continue to have a closer partnership domestically. You might get most of the benefits of consolidation already without the negatives.
If a 3rd party merged it would more likely a LBO via PE.
Or more likely (if a merger was happening) AA would buy B6 using debt funding.
Both are publicly traded already. In reality not likely to happen for regulatory reasons (they barely got the northeast alliance by the govt)
