Qatar Airways Privilege Club and Qatar Duty Free have launched a brilliant new partnership, which I think will do a great job encouraging travelers to get engaged in Qatar Airways’ loyalty program.

Hi Ben, this has always been there. even before they moved to Avios, one could use Qmiles to make purchases at the duty free shops. Even Emirates has the same option where 4500 skyward miles translate to 75 AED. I have used both multiple times.

UA MP members can use miles to pay for purchases on the tablets all over IAH. It's a terrible value, of course, but it is pretty widespread.

In the past, Qatar Airway Privilege Club Platinum members received a 20% DISCOUNT off the purchase price of goods such as perfume and cologne. It's a shame that perk is no longer offered 🙁

When I read 0.65 cents at first I thought it meant 65 cents per mile, and got excited.

The dream was shattered quite quickly 🙁

What is the source of the information that the miles will be credited before flight? I cant find this information anywhere on QR web page or in my Privilege club account.

Hi Ben, this is a very insightful article, thank you for writing it. But I have a question ,
You have mentioned 65 cents value per Avios point in the beginning.
Based on your first explanation 10,000 Avios should be worth $6,500 but later in the post you have mentioned as $65 for 10,000 Avios.
Can you elaborate on this please?

I am currently in DOH and am a BA Gold Card holder with a truck load of Avios. But I can't use them here. You can only use them if you are a member of Qatar Airways Privilege and have Avios through them. In other words there are Avios and Avios. They are not the same. It would be nice if this was made clear.

Kind of late, but mate you can transfer BA avios to Qatar by creating an account and linking them together.
