Lucky,

A couple of questions.

1. From looking at Seat Guru it shows economy class on Qatar's A340-600 having a seat pitch of 32-34" and a width of 18.9" which seems pretty roomy compared to most economy classes. Did you get a good view of the seats that were in economy?

2. From your photos it seems like the tv screens in first class were quite a distance from your seat (via the photo labeled 1A). Did you have any issues with glare or seeing them? (Maybe it was just an angle thing.)

For a second I misread the phrase "offer Arabic coffee and dates". I think it was due to my imagination after you mentioned "The two tall, blonde Eastern European flight attendants introduced themselves." 🙂

Thanks.

How full was this flight, besides the gentleman across the row from you? And which segment did you prefer, to or from London?

Lucky,

if you're a frequent traveler through London, you really want to take a look at registering for IRIS - I find it saves me tons of time... If memory serves, you have a German passport as well, so you shouldn't have any issues...

And, hey, it's free! 🙂

@ Rich -- Sadly I didn't make it back to coach, though that does sound like excellent seat pitch. As far as the TV screen, it was far from the seat, though it was plenty big, so seeing it wasn't an issue. There was a bit of glare, though, which would be my major complaint.

@ Andy -- Four of the eight seats were taken in first class. I'd say the two segment were roughly comparable. Both crews were quite good and the food was pretty good on both segments.

@ David -- I really should, just have to find the time to do it.

The IRIS registration takes about 10 minutes - there's an "interview", they take a picture of your retina, done.

What you might also want to keep an eye out for (and it might actually work with a US biometric passport as well, I can't try ;)) are the "ePassport" gates - I've seen them at Gatwick, but never paid attention at Heathrow. They're also usually not too crowded, and you just scan in your passport, stand on a spot so that the camera gets a good look at you, thank you, you're in.

No registration needed...

I see Qatar have the same seats in Business as BA do on their LCY-JFK service.
Great reports man!
