Some hotel points do not expire if you hold a credit card or have status. Sometimes you may have status without any activity, like with a timeshare ownership with Hilton and Marriott.
Re Hyatt. Is it 24 months to the exact date of last activity? Or end of the 24th month? I have a situation with my 24th month falling on later this week. Email from Hyatt said I have until Aug 31 to complete a transaction, however the Hyatt agent on the chat could not confirm this in writing. I can squeeze in a stay later this month but not this week. Any advice?
Ben, you should next do a similar post of Hertz points. Specifically, how they shadily activated a 12(?) month expiration on points without really telling anyone, or claiming they did and maybe if you didn't have your email preferences on, that's not their fault. And not giving any leeway to renew them.
Basically totally destroyed my loyalty to their brand (along with their generally worsened private equity-management practices) as well as Hertz points generally having been very low usefulness even before. But that was the last nail in the coffin.
Marriott redemption off award night must be consumed to be counted as eligibility. Redeemed then canceled does not count.
Thankfully, most of these can be extended with minimum 'activity' effort, like a nominal points transfer, etc. (I'd say, the airlines are more strict, especially those that expire "after a certain amount of time regardless of activity.")
Accor have double dipping in place for Flying Blue and QR, so a revenue flight with those airlines will count as activity for extending ALL points.

Accor Live Limitless lets you donate (minimum 500 points giving the charity €10) that resets the expiration. Should be a great option if you need activity that posts quickly.
GHA Discovery has the toughest standard. Your point expiration is set at 12, 18, or 24 months after earning depending on status when earned (not after earned). There is nothing you can do to stop the clock. So, you can some points expiring X, some Y, etc. (But, given the design, use all D$ you can at the start of each stay.) They do have a donate option which doesn't extend expiration, but most will like that better than letting them expire.
GHA are even worse than that as a lot of their offers involve D$ that expire in as little as 6 months. Still, it's quite a solid programme and the hotels tend to be good value.
How long do Bonvoy mileage transfers take to update the expiration date? It deducted the miles immediately, but my expiration date stayed the same...Was I Bonvoyed?
