Daily Getaways Promotion Discontinued: Not A Huge Loss?

I worked with (not for) US Travel Association back in the 2010's and I remember being in their office one day a Hyatt deal went live and the staff said people kept calling asking why it sold out so quickly.

Anyways.... US Travel is a lobbying organization for the travel industry, but they are a non profit. They raise money I am sure through membership fees mainly, but for Daily Getaways the industry partners would "donate" these packages, points, ect. to US Travel as a way for them to raise funds. In return I am sure US Travel would have a list of things they would be lobbying congress for on your behalf if you participated in the program.

I used to be too poor to even purchase these discounted deals. Now as name partner IDGAF about these deals because I buy and stay wherever I want. Isn’t big law great? (Annual profit per partner >$5MM)

It is a huge loss. Maybe not for the Hyatt-blind blogosphere, but this was a great way to stay in unique preferred hotels by choice for a big discount, away from the points crowd who ruin unique hotels.

It was always an over hyped scam. Impossible to get the Hyatt points except for some insiders or bots.

I will miss it...I was about to get Marriott vouchers for 20% off and over the years I bought tens of thousands of Choice points..I saved thousands of dollars at NYC hotels using them. Also the OMNI hotel vouchers were good deals.
All good things come to an end.

Most years were unique & wonderful opportunities to buy cheap Omni Hotel nights. Combined with top status (earned from the previous year’s cheap nights) meant $200 weekends in huge suites in unique locations for me (Mt Washington, Homestead West Virginia, brand new PGA Resort). A great run, will surely miss it!

I disagree with you on this one. As someone who never gets targeted for the Hilton promotions on buying points (240k+240k for $2,400), it was an easy way to score a considerable number of Hilton points to boost my account t for high value redemptions like the Conrad Maldives.

I bought Choice Hotel points last year and (combined with points from my Citi ThankYou points account) used them in... Japan. Really good deal (hotel costs around 8000 points)

Not a huge loss? Perhaps for some. Huge loss for me. Never failed to be a great points boost and helpful. I won’t miss having to time certain days to be ready the moment the offers opened. And I stopped even bothering with the Hyatt ones. Love Hyatt but the limited number offered only made them look bad (for once) in my eyes.

This IS a huge loss to me. I was able to get several of the Vegas packages over the years. I just sat by the computer the minute it went live on the website and clicked buy. These deals included a hotel stay, dinner and limo ride to and from the airport. The doormen never knew we had bought a discounted trip from daily getaways so when we arrived by limo they were always trying to point us towards the high rollers room. Ha ha.
I also bought discounted Best Western points and discounted Marriott gift cards. Sad to hear this is over.
