Uber-luxury hotel group Aman has revealed its newest location, and it’s… totally uninspiring, at least to me.

Aman has jumped the shark. They will end up ruining the brand.

Spot on assessment. And if I’m going to be in that area, I’ll just stick with the Sofitel Beverly Hills. I don’t need a tranquil oasis on the west side of Los Angeles.

Sad! I agreed with everything you said in this article.
I hope Aman Sveti Stefan reopens and got settled with the government to get the beach limited access again. The place came up among my top Aman hotels.
There are still many locations out there that are untouched that could be good for Aman, I don’t get why they have to go after these cities … even in some semi city-resort locations like Cape Town, Rio de Janeiro or some areas in Chile/Argentina, Norway, etc they lack ultra-luxurious boutique hotels

I've only stayed at three Amans and Amanjiwo remains my top hotel experience ever. As my Grandmother walked up the flower petal strewn stairs she turned to me and asked "Are we actually staying IN the temple?" It only got more incredible from there.

NYC, Miami, Cabo, and LA certainly won't evoke that kind of reaction from anyone.

All true points. The only silver lining I can think of: at least it will open before Park Hyatt Los Angeles. 😉

I'll be experiencing my first Aman stay at Amankila in Bali in September. The "old Aman". Looking forward to it.

Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton have really proven how lucrative the luxury travel sector is for mediocracy. Sadly, this has most likely inspired/forced Aman to maximize on this crazy demand. At first I was a annoyed, but given that none of the 'new' Amans have opened yet, I remain hopeful for the time being..

You don’t get why or your in denial as to why?! The brand was obviously bought with intent to max ROI, so here you have it…

Not only are they building in cookie cutter locations, even the designs are starting to resemble one another. Here's the Aman Bangkok:

It really depends on wilingness of US to enforce sanctions against Putin's friends. Aman's owner Doronin is a part of the same bloody Putin's mafia. Hope that Aman hotels will be liquidated eventually.
