This is more of a luxury hotel post than a points hotel post, so if that doesn’t interest you, by all means skip it. However, what’s probably my single favorite boutique hotel group in the world has just opened its first property outside of France, and I figure that’s worth covering.

Honestly, Venice is overrated and over touristed (is that a word?). Though after looking through the pictures the vibe looks like I imagine a top level hotel in the 19th century being like, not only indoors but especially with the courtyard and location on an island. Though to spring 2k per night I would need some special occurrence justify it.
If Venice is overrated, which city on earth isn't? Knoxville, Tennessee? Flint, Michigan?
Venice may be somewhat too crowded depending on season but is incredible and completely unique.
As a former Italian resident of several years, I have to agree with Venice being overrated. Yes, it's beautiful and unique, but it really doesn't merit the sheer excess of attention (and tourists) it gets over other cities and towns in Veneto, let alone the rest of Italy.
Cool. Always nice to have more options, especially in Venice. Better to stay rather than day-trip. I know Ben really likes this brand, too.
I'm excited about this hotel, but I don't know if I'd call it the best in Venice yet. Aman Venice and Belmond Hotel Cipriani are pretty impressive. Four Seasons has also taken over Hotel Danieli and will reopen it in August.

It's worth going to once, but on other trips I've enjoyed nearby Padova, Verona, and Vicenza more. The latter is especially incredible for any architecture fan, even more Palladio than Venice.
