To put it into Trumpian language….T4 is a shithole with lousy access to Heathrow Express and Elizabeth line, filled with garbage lounges. But, DL passengers will now be. Able to connect to AF group. Then again, who in their right mind chooses LHR as a connection airport?
Only half of the T2 terminal building has been built, and only one satellite.
LHR was intended to be a 'toast rack' of terminals and satellites, stretching east west from Terminal 2 to Terminal 5.
So when they last completed a terminal review, HAL (Heathrow Airport Limited) likely assumed that the remainder of T2 and its satellites would have been built by now. And hence the terminal configuration would have looked very different.
As far as I'm aware, T2 is still dependent on the old baggage system of the 'demolished' T1.
The move is not until 2028, meaning there's plenty of time to further adjust the relocation. The airport is probably pushing VS to T4 which VS must have been opposing due to heavy investments already made in T3. Now that those VS lounges will lose 25% of passengers (VS:DL=3:1 in LHR), maybe the airport can deal with VS to move to T4. If then, all Oneworld airlines can move to T3 with a few more non-alliance carriers, giving VS sufficient lounge spaces - I think QR lounge has upper and lower floors, make it into a 3-floor VS lounge, and premium lounge's closed arrival lounge can reopen by VS. T3 and T4 are equally bad. VS moving to T4 might be better for its future growth.
