Virgin Atlantic Flying Club has an ongoing status match offer, and I’d like to cover the details in this post. In particular, there’s a special limited time status match offer for those with British Airways Club status, which is even more lucrative than usual.

Remind me again why Delta isn't on the list? Assuming due to the relationship between them and how it already maps some aspects of things...

As usual for status matches the LH mapping is borked. Hon matches to gold, and Sen only to silver as it is classed as a "second tier" despite being one of the most difficult statuses to get.

It's known as 'wag the dog'...'a strategy where a political leader engages in diversionary tactics—often involving military action or another high-stakes maneuver—to distract the public from a pending or existing scandal, crisis, or failure.'

well I did get a status match offer from SEN to Plat with air france. I think they wanted 400$ for the match.

X2 on SEN/HON being the hardest to get. Aeroplan 50k can be acheived with one J ticket and some CC spending. SEN requires a minimum of 3 RT J trips with a few connections.

I find ST lounge access too confusing to figure out if this will get me into Delta lounges on purely domestic itineraries. I'm thinking not.

So I have an upcoming short flight on Vietnam Airlines in J that I booked using VA points. I have a VA record locator, but the flight number is a VN number. Does that qualify as an itinerary for this status match?

Their mapping is all wrong and basically makes this not a status “match” as in many situations they are not matching any of the benefits of your other status.
Their silver status is pretty useless, but they match you to that if you’re AA Plat Pro for example, even though Plat Pro is OW Emerald, which is top tier and gives First Class checking, lounge and boarding and VS Silver doesn’t give you any of that…
