growing up in china, i saw way too many man bellies during summer than I would have liked.
I saw a lot of those bellies last summer in China. Frankly, I'd be way too self-conscious to hang my belly out like that so I was always a little jealous of the confidence those guys have 🙂
Also, I'd have to agree with Mark that seeing a bunch of fat bellies hanging out on the street is nothing compared to all the kids with the split pants just sh!tting all over the place. That kinda blew my mind

Ben how long was the guy sitting there like that? Enough time that staff should have noticed and said something? Totally disgusting that a chest or armpit hair could fall into one of the food dishes when he served himself. I mean, that could happen with a hair from someone's head but still. Ick!
Think of them as forest ppl with little to no manners, yeah I doubt the attendant would want to enforce dress code, have you seen videos of these ppl hitting sales people, or any kind of staff because they were not happy... Uncivilized
I just draw a contrast with the Japanese. Always so thin, so well dressed and so incredibly polite.

Frankly this is the first time I ever see anyone shirtless in airports, let alone in business class lounges. Maybe they really need a new A/C in there...
Hilarious! On a not-very-related note, I'm flying HKG-PEK-NRT next week, with the first segment in business class and the second in coach, both flights on Air China. Any chance I'll have access to the topless business class lounge during my layover?
I checked with my Chinese wife and she says they are just trying to keep cool without taking their shirt off. I am surprised you didn't comment on the babies running around with their junk hanging out and defecating on the sidewalk...! Also quite common...
@ concorde02 -- Hah, this was a bit worse since it was for an extended period of time.
The last time I was in that lounge it was so hot I felt like taking off my shirt.

I was at a restaurant in Beijing last month with a group, so they put us in a back room. There were some partitions for privacy, but you could still look out into the main dining area and the other back rooms. A Chinese guy the other room was eating his lunch with no shirt on. This was in an air conditioned restaurant inside of a mall.
Long time reader but first comment, I used to live in Shanghai and the heat was so unbearable it wasn't long but I found myself doing this, without thinking, as soon as I'd notice Id fix myself. However when I got back to Ireland and it was warm I found myself still doing it, it lead to a few embarrassing situations!
I don't know if the guy in the lounge is there every night, or I was there at the same time on the third at night, waiting for a flight to Bali. Hot,Hot!hot. (weather not the guy).
It is true that those people are very rude, but it is not necessary to point it out. You can also see many people wearing nothing on the beach, but you don't mind that! It is unfair...

FYI, iPhones are made in China. So the quality really depends on how much money you'd like to pay for "everything", instead of where it's made.
You don't really seem to have a clue about the legendary Japanese craftmanship i'm talking about. The quality control is state of the art.
Just left Bejing yesterday the forbidden city had mech worse than belles showing!
