In late 2023, we saw a fascinating order announced for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. There’s now a cool update, as the airline has just taken delivery of its first of these jets. I’m probably a lot more excited about this than I should be, but I can’t help it…

This was not a conscious choice on interiors. The aircraft was made available for immediate delivery through a sale-leaseback agreement via AerCap on an as-is basis, so they have gone with the original MIAT configuration.

The 787-10s that they will take delivery of this year are going to be in 24J343Y config without Premium Economy.

The next 787-9 that they take will have yet another interior config (TBD).

On the same continent, I know Yemen is probably on the bottom of your list if it's even on your list, but would you consider trying Yemenia?

Aside from the smaller islands in the Pacific, I'm sure there are plenty of carriers in Africa for you to try. RwandAir is another one you haven't done in a while. And there's Uganda Airlines.

Yemen is not in the same continent as Angola… unless ai’ve misunderstood what you’re saying.

The B787-10 might be from Saudia or Vietnam Airlines

Interestingly, that 17 hour flight inclided 30 or 35 minutes of holding over Western Sahara before being seemingly rerouted. Likely would have been an hour less if they flew direct.
